"Reda is one of the most loving and giving people I've ever known. She's the type of person that would give you her last quarter if you need it. She's the type that's never met a stranger, the type of person others look to in times of turmoil.

She's also an immensely talented artist that's recently broken her arm. Last Friday a bike accident left her right arm with a broken humerus. She needs surgery to ensure the injury heals properly, without it she may not regain full functionality.

As someone that relies on her right arm to not only navigate simple daily tasks but also to bring beauty in to the world she desperately needs this surgery. This accident couldn't have been at a worse time. She doesn't have insurance and just started a new job. The problem is because she doesn't have insurance her doctor's office is asking she pay a substantial amount of the projected costs in advance or they will have to put off the surgery.

Delaying the surgery would drastically increase recovery time as well as increase the possibility she will never regain full range of motion and risk permanent nerve damage. Permanent damage would mean losing dexterity in the hand she uses to make music and create art.

She's the independent type who is so used to giving it's hard for her to ask for help, even when she really needs it. As just one of countless people who love her dearly it's my hope that her boundless generosity may be returned." -Ellie B.

The surgery is currently scheduled for Friday, February 13th, 2015. Even if we have to reschedule the procedure, having the injury repaired within two weeks is crucial. If we have to we can reschedule within the next week but after that point each day means more risk and more trauma to healing tissue.

The procedure is through the McBride Orthopedic in Norman and the surgeon is well regarded in his field. After consultation we believe following his advice is the best decision and that means going forward with surgery as soon as possible.

Update 2/12/2015

Our goal has drastically reduced. We will hopefully no longer need to reach 20% of the full 10,000.00 we were originally quoted. We are hoping the amount needed will be in the hundreds not thousands.

Thank you all for your support and love,

Reda
