Short Summary

TheatreSouth is a registered Georgia Not For Profit touring theatre company.

We are embarking on a historically significant Multicultural Theatre Production / Broadway play "I HAVE A DREAM" written by Josh Greenfeld, directed by Herman LeVern Jones. The project is a historical production based on the life and times of Civil Right Leader and American Icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I HAVE A DREAM covers the civil rights moment with Dr. King from December 1, 1955 (when Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus) until April 4, 1968 (the day Martin Luther King transitioned). There are 28 songs, 120 projections, a mass choir, and over 20 actors, singers, and dancers in the production. The production will touch on the audience's intellectual, spiritual, and emotional senses. It is a perfect vehicle to entertain, inspire and add perspective to our American history. We need your support in making this project successful.

We need your support in making sure 15,376 public school students of all ages and cultural creeds are able to see this wonderful production of "I Have A Dream" The Broadway Musical.  In procuring the funding, 15,376 student tickets will be available for the viewing of matinee performances at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center for FREE in JANUARY 2014!!!


As a personal donor your name is entered into our DREAM VACATION give away, which includes the following:

- An 8 day/7 night vacation to the beautiful country of Belize and the city of San Perdo on the islands (Included: Private Villa) Airfare Transportation is NOT included.

The Impact

Like many cultural events around the world, people have the opportunity to learn and cultivate themselves into new experiences.  This production of "I Have A Dream" The Musical has been seen in more than 120 cities worldwide since 1986 through 2012.

This particular presentation has the mission to make youth more aware about the historical events from the Civil Rights era and to expose the future generations to the new but very old concept of enjoying live performance.


History of "I Have A Dream" The Musical

“I Have A Dream” the Musical written by Josh Greenfeld, is a theatrical production that toured for many years around the world both on Broadway and off Broadway.  This work appeared on Broadway at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City from September 1976 until December 1976 starring Billy Dee Williams.  This original work then toured for several years with Broadway Producer and Director Woodie King, Jr.’s National Black Touring Circuit from 1985 to 2002, of which Herman LeVern Jones served as Associate Producer, Actor, and Company Manager.  “I Have A Dream” is a musical production based on the words of international icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  The dynamic musical takes place during the Civil Rights Era in the Southeastern part of the United States from 1955 to 1968.

This timeless production of “I Have A Dream” will again leap into the history books, creating an educational platform for the Miami Dade Public School System.  The initiative of this project falls under the humanitarian arms of Commissioner Dennis Moss, project leader of the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center.  Special thanks to all of the students, faculty, staff, and supporters of the entire Miami Metro Area.

“I Have A Dream” will be directed by World Renowned Director Herman LeVern Jones, musically directed by Grammy Award Winning Dr. Gregory McPherson, and choreographed by New York’s Diane Harvey.
