Project Summary
Hi Funders!
I would like to introduce you to Susan, one of life's idlers. She's too lazy to work, too lazy to exercise, too lazy to love. But she does like a good roll in the hay!
We are bringing brilliant literature back to life in a feature film!
We are Andrew Willig, Elisa King, and Will Shung, and we are bringing "Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" back into the 21st Century. Idle thoughts was written in 1886 by well known British humorist Jerome K Jerome, who is best remembered for his work Three Men in a Boat. However, one of his other great works, Idle Thoughts, is almost unknown to modern readers and film goers.
We plan to change all that.
We are filmmakers from Vancouver, Canada and we want to make our first feature film. Andrew Willig has been working in TV and film for five years and has worked on movies such as Fifty Shades of Grey, and Tomorrowland in the lighting department. Not to mention dozens of TV shows such as Once Upon a Time, and Falling Skies. Elisa King is is both a singer-songwriter and an actress, writer and director. She produce several of her own short films and is ready for her first feature. Will Shung is a sales and marketing professional, and short film maker, who runs an award nominated cultural Blog on Vancouver's art scene.
And we think we can do a hell of a lot with a relatively small amount of money! We think we can make you a hilarious rom-com based on Idle Thoughts for just $60,000. And that's $60,000 Canadian dollars ;-).
What We Need & What You Get
We have already raised $10k in private funding, but filming is expensive. So we are looking to find a fan base who will buy tickets in advance, and help us raise another $50k. All the funding we receive will go into the cost of film production, there will be no production fee on the project, but we aim to raise enough to make reasonable payments to key cast and crew, and have all expenses covered. The costs are:
- Cast & Crew
- Production Equipment
- Location fees
- Insurance & Permits
- Post Production
The Benefits:
Our best perks will get you a part in our movie, signed memorabilia, invitations to the premier (which will hopefully be at a major international film festival), or even an Executive Producer credit on IMDb!
Come hell or high water we are going to make this movie, but if funds are low, the current script will be descaled to make it more manageable (no horses or orcs).
The Impact of Your Support
This campaign is going to bring a truly wonderful, but largely forgotten piece of english literature back to life. Jerome K Jerome deserves to be remembered alongside Jane Austin as a great humorist and writer. We believe he needs to be resurrected in the public mind, because sadly at the moment he is almost unknown.
We have, individually and together made, dozens of local TV shows and short films, and developed a wide circle of contacts in the local film industry. Now is the time for our first feature film, and we are bursting to get this done!
This is an opportunity to bring truly artistic and poetic writing back into fashion.
Risks & Challenges! Oh My.
This production is very low risk if our funding goals are met. Our main obstacles will be getting quality locations that really leap off the screen and capture the key moments in the script.
Your funding will allow us budget for shooting in and around Vancouver, in national parks and at some of BC's most beautiful locations.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you like this idea but are a little short on cash, don't worry! If you have any experience on film sets you are welcome to come up and join us as a volunteer. And of course, if you think we are a worthy cause, tell your friends! And don't forget to use the Indiegogo share tools!
As a final note, please read Indiegogo's terms and conditions so you understand how your money can be used. Thanks.
