The Declaration Of Independents
We know that you know someone that is pursuing a career in music. Your brother/sister, your son/daughter, your boyfriend/girlfriend... Whether they are just beginning their journey or are seasoned in the industry, it is a roller coaster ride that only other musicians, or people with unrelenting passion for something, can relate to.
First Dirt is an indie group that creates positive hip hop sounds for you to feel good to. We are just like those people that you know. We book our own shows. We put out our own music. We perform any and everywhere we can. We love what we do and sometimes we know that (you) the people that love and support us can't figure out what keeps us going. Well the answer is simple. We love music. We love being able to relate to people. We love seeing people nod their heads at our shows and come give us high fives. We love being the conduit between different worlds to allow them to collide peacefully.
Here are our goals:
-
To declare that independents can do what the majors can. On a smaller scale of course. With less flashyness. And no cool cars in our videos. Or video vixens... You get the idea.
-
To raise money to be able to actually pull this off. We
know that we can we just need to cover some expenses. We went on a nationwide tour in 2012. We are hard
working, smart, and talented. But talking about positive stuff in hip
hop doesn't garner MTV knocking at our door. Ahemmmmm....
-
Share our experiences with our fellow indie artists to show them what works for us or what doesn't work. We want to empower others even if it means that we have to be the guinea pigs. But the laws of the universe say that if we put out the vibes...they will come. ((vibes))
-
Raise awareness and funding for autism. We all have someone close to us that now has this label. It strikes my curiosity that this is so common now. Evolution? Man made? Either way we want to help find answers.

We will be donating 10% of what we raise here to an autism research organization. We are in contact with The MIND Institute so hopefully they will be our charity. But regardless, we will make sure the money gets to them.
The Impact
In this day and age, musicians of all genres have to make their own careers and hope for some help from the big fish. With your help, we can inch ourselves that much closer to independent success and the gratification of making something out of nothing. We are firm believers in voting with your dollars. If you believe in what we stand for and what we hope to accomplish, vote for us. We aren't famous or well-known...yet. But we are real people with real problems and real ideas on how to move forward. This is one of them. Will you be a part of the solution?
Not only will your support empower us to empower others like us, it will go to finding some much needed answers regarding autism. If you know anyone that has a child with autism and want to donate but don't know where to donate, we will make sure it gets into the right hands.
Other Ways You Can Help
Not all support is financial. Shares, likes, comments, and word of mouth are just as valuable. The money is necessary but so is the promotion by our supporters and loved ones. If you made it this far in our shpeel but just can't part with your Benjamin's, no worries. Here are two ways you can still support us:
- Get the word out and make some noise about our campaign. Share this post (the share tools are on this page). Comment on this page. Tell your friends. Tell your parents. Tell Obama. The power of recommendation is so overlooked.
- Send us positive vibes. Wish us well. This world is built on energy fields and we need ours to be as positive as possible to embark on this journey.
Thank you for taking your time to learn about this tour. We hope to hear from you and if you are an artist or know someone that is we hope to be able to help you along your journey as well.
