Our Story

After the death of his mother, Chad Dietrich has been shouldered with the resposibility of running the family mortuary.  As time goes on and Chad's father pushes him deeper into the art of conning the clientele, it becomes apparent that he might be stuck running the business forever.  But one day a beautiful heiress lands in his office and presents him with the con of a lifetime.  She represents Chad's way out of his father's shadow, but it quickly becomes apparent that no one is playing on the level.  As each character tries to outwit the others, Chad begins to realize that living an honest life might be the only way to save his family and get the girl.

In Lieu of Flowers is a classic romantic comedy in the tradition of His Girl Friday and Bringing Up Baby.  We plan on bringing our film to life with rich characters, sharp dialogue, and an impeccable design and cinematography style.

 
The Impact

We are Graduate film students at Chapman University who are trying to bring our vision to life and hone our skills as dynamic storytellers.  Each dollar you contribute will show up on the screen and plays a crucial part in giving the film the momentum it needs to be fully realized. As a financier you are supporting our futures in addition to this project.  It is our goal to make In Lieu of Flowers the best possible story it can be, and to take our professionally finished product to festivals nationwide. 

What We Need & What You Get

Our goal is to raise $1,500.00 in order to create the world we envision. We are looking for any and all types of financial contributions to fund our student project. The money you contribute will go towards things such as lighting equipment, production design, locations, and transportation for cast and crew. In return, you will receive a special thank you from us, a credit in the film, a copy of the completed project, and more!
