Short Summary
Some time ago, Wilona Winters, a very well-known and talented contemporary dancer, made the difficult decision to step back from her career when her beloved husband and dance partner, Desmond, fell ill. Desmond’s recent passing means that Wilona has an opportunity to return to the stage. Her rushed comeback ultimately leads to a harsh confrontation with Wilona’s only daughter, Alice, who seeks answers regarding what really went on between her parents behind closed doors. Alice will go on an emotional journey as she learns more about her parents’ relationship—a relationship that, until now, she never really understood. The things that she discovers will be both beautiful and unsettling.
We will explore Wilona’s and Desmond’s world, a world full of love, passion and sacrifice, all for their art—an art that Alice has never been a part of.
The Plan
Even though the whole team envisions this film as a launching pad for the many future projects we have in store, this film will be the last project of our Master’s course here in London. We all want to challenge ourselves, do our best work and bring great talent to tell this story. It will be a dream come true.
Where You Come In
Making a short film is both challenging and expensive. The team has gone through the script many times to ensure financial efficiency while working to make the story justice.
We are putting our own savings in this project but we still need your help.
So, here is a breakdown of the Budget for you to understand how your support will contribute to our project:
Total Budget: £8,000
£1,800 -Equipment Rentals & Insurance
In order to have the right look and visuals for this story we need to rent specific lenses for the camera we will use and a number of lighting equipment for the major scene in the short film. This represents one of the major costs of our production. We want to tell this story right, and this equipment will help us create the best visuals for our story and our characters’ journeys.
£ 1,500 –Locations
The story of Wilona, Desmond, and Alice will take place in a classical theatre setting. But renting a theatre in London is no easy task and becomes expensive when filming for a few days. Your donations can help us get the appropriate location which will help us express the mood and shoot the scenes in the perfect way.
£ 3,500 – Cast & Crew
At one point in our careers, we have all worked for free, but we think that we have reached the time for hard-working people to get paid fairly for their time and commitment.
£500– Music & Post Production
Music will be an essential part of this story. Along with the actors’ performances, of course, it will underscore the relationship between the characters.
We were lucky enough to land an amazingly talented post-production team that is willing to give their time and best work to our film.
£700– Food, Expenses & Transportation
We want to make the shooting days as pleasant as we can and that means food for the cast and crew and the one thing that keeps us all going on set: coffee.
