What is InBocca Performance?
We are a theatre company that started in a basement, similar to the theatre companies born in Greenwich Village in the 1960s during the Post-Modern theatre boom in the United States. We believe in making art that lives without borders, without blinders, and through a lineage of mindfulness and compassion. When we say that we make theatre on a ‘bleeding edge,’ we mean that a cutting edge wasn’t fine enough for us–we had to dig deeper into the history of who we were, dig our fingers into the depths and dirt, dive into the muck of our ancestry and wrestle with the mess of our humanity. Sometimes that looks like our privilege and sometimes that looks like our oppression depending on who is telling the story.
What We Need & What You Get:
We are looking to raise $5000 this summer to aid in paying for the following things:
- Rent for our theatre space ($700)
- Payment for our camp counselors (approx. $4000)
- Money to cover costumes, dance supplies, and basic necessities in the theatre space (toilet paper, paper towels, snacks for kids)
What you get in return for your generous donation:
- $20-75: a shout-out in our program as a donor
- $76-150: an InBocca tshirt and a shout-out in our program as a donor
- $156-250: tickets to our show, a t-shirt, a shout-out, and a personalized thank-you card mailed to you from InBocca
- $256-500: tickets to our show, a t-shirt, a shout-out, a thank-you card, and a video shout-out on social media
- $500+ TBA
The Impact You Make:
At InBocca, your money goes towards helping make art that is different, unique, and works towards providing a safe place to land for kids and artists. We strive to create an inclusive and powerful community, and your donation is part of that.
- Your money is helping to educate children who might not otherwise get the opportunity
- Your money goes towards supporting local art and arts organizations, which keep your community colorful and lively
- Your money goes towards continuing education for the college students we employ every summer
- Did we mention that the kids are filled with JOY when they are with us making art??
Challenges:
Each year it has become harder and harder to make sure we are paying our funds (like space rental) and paying our working artists a living wage. You can be a part of changing that with your donation. We'd love to pay every artist who works with us $1000 or more, but our realistic goal is $800.
