What is Immensities?
IMMENSITIES is an audiovisual project that unites the three levels of perspectives: sky, surface and depth.
These are the three layers of immensity that humans are immersed in while traveling on the surface of the sea. The space where the sky melts with the endless horizon of the ocean, where the still surface of the sea becomes the mirror that reflects the stars and where marine life leave the depths to get a glimpse of the exterior world.
The Immensity project was born from the passion of a biologist, Sara Amozurrutia who, in 2022, began the collaboration with Nacho Peláez, a Spanish freediver, and Cristina Medellin, a Mexican astrophotographer. Each of the three artists representing the three perspectives: night sky photography, wildlife and landscape photography, and underwater photography.
The core conviction of this collaboration is to inspire consciousness about the immensity of life and to instill the realization of how deeply intertwined we are with it. May this awaken a new sensation of belonging and responsibility to all that witness. Combining their visual archives and using their images as a tool of environmental activism, these three photographers share the beauty of our planet, as well as to showcase what lies beyond the vail of human impact.

The Impact
The perspective of our anthropogenic world has been limited by the construction of the human world: the cities, homes, buildings... and in them, our lives and egos, focused solely on our feelings, willings and desires...But, what’s there, further away?
Your brain is a universe of cells that are constantly making synopsis, which mirrors the Universe we belong to.. Have you ever looked up to the sky? How many stars can you see in the middle of the city? What can you see outside of our cities and our lives?
It is a fractal experience to be standing on planet Earth, our blue planet, as it is following its gravitational trajectory around the Sun, along with the other planets of our Solar System in our Milky Way galaxy.
Life is there, outside the cities, where we can admire the immensity of the ocean during the day, where we can appreciate the surface of the water melting with the horizon, the deep blue fading, the sun rays, the night sky mesmerizing us with an infinite amount of stars, constellations, galaxies.. And there you are...standing in the middle of the nowhere, and at the same time, you’re a part of EVERYTHING.
With our project we aim to reach many of those that can´t or do not leave the cities so that they can get closer to the reality that lies beyond. We also want to inspire children to get involved in activities and sports that bring them closer to these layers of immensities so that we have a positive impact on our common future. We also want to use this opportunity to bring eco brands to showcase their products in our exhibition so we help them spread the message of different alternatives products with 0 Impact to the environment.
The abilities of free diving, astronomy, and sailing the open seas are our chosen skills to enjoy the grand planes of immensities. We hope that this effort inspires people to question the virtual constructed reality and connect with a sensorial experience of life.
