We have a vision that all children can enjoy play experiences together and children with special needs feel as included as any other child.
A place for children and parents of all abilities
For the growing number of children and parents with disabilities
in our area, including those with sensory deficits, most playgrounds aren't
fully inclusive or can't accommodate their needs. With your support, the Inspiration
Playground will become the Eastside's destination playground for active and inclusive
outdoor fun — a wonderful place of PLAY FOR ALL.
Play for kids..and the kid-at-heart
Playing with kids builds a bond that will last forever. It lets them know that they are loved and appreciated and opens the door for sharing problems and concerns when the need arises. The Inspiration Playground will also be a place where differently abled
parents can get in on the fun and special bonding that comes with play.
FAQ
What is an INCLUSIVE playground? What will we build together?
An inclusive playground is not only accessible, but encourages and enables people of ALL abilities to engage with one another. In
addition to ramps, accessible swings and play panels, Inspiration Playground will have sensory walls, a quiet Sensory Garden, water play, splash Pads, and
more. Together we will build a destination playground with
- Barrier-free surfacing materials, inclusive and
challenging play environments, sensory experiences that engage all five
senses, and family gathering spaces that will make it one of the most
innovative outdoor venues in the Northwest.
- Design elements that address the autistic spectrum
including enclosed spaces, which provide an area to regulate their sensory
systems after a time of high sensory input, perimeter pathways and other
safety features.
- Conveniently located, enhanced and accessible family
restroom facilities.
- A Sensory Garden that will engage all the senses as
visitors interact with its colorful scented plantings, playful sound
features, and hands-on tactile elements.
The City has committed early dollars to the project and
will oversee construction and maintenance of the playground once
built—assuring donors of the lasting value and legacy of
their investment.
$250,000-Is that enough to fund this incredible idea?
Not quite. Through generous donations, grants and money from the City of Bellevue, we have raised $3.8M of our $5.5M goal. We
are looking for help from you, our community, to raise the additional funds
by launching this Indiegogo campaign. In addition to helping
us fund this amazing project, this campaign will:
- Raise awareness about the project by promoting it to a wider audience.
-
Give the community a personal connection to the project and the chance to be a part of its success.
- Give
people an opportunity to act on their values in a meaningful way by
making a statement: "I want my world to be inclusive."
Is my donation Tax Deductible? What if I sponsor a fence item?
Yes. The Bellevue Rotary Club is a
501(c)3 nonprofit organization (Federal Tax ID 91-1501333). Donations are tax deductible.
When you
sponsor a leaf, animal or flower, your payment does not entitle you to
receive these items, but rather is a charitable contribution to the
Bellevue Rotary Club Inspiration Playground. For each contribution, an
engraved item will be
placed on the Honor Wall. As any benefits in return for the
contribution
are considered "incidental," the full amount of your contribution is
deductible for federal tax purposes. Donors will be emailed a receipt for their donation from FirstGiving.
How do I tell you what I want written on my Inspiration Playground fence item?
We are going to collect this information from backers during the campaign.
Are there any rules I should know about?
Discriminatory or inappropriate messages will not be permitted. The Bellevue Rotary Club is a
501(c)3 nonprofit organization and reserves the right of refusal of
any order found to be inappropriate or in violation of the Bellevue Rotary Club policies, directives, or guidelines.
