Short Summary
Hello! I am Adam Rich. I played bass for State Of Green while attending Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio in the mid 1990's. Over our 3 year existence, we did some pretty cool things. A contest in Cleveland in 1995 led to more Cleveland shows, most of which were dutifully videotaped by my mom, a former PR woman in her youth. God bless her for lugging that VHS camcorder on her shoulder to near a dozen shows. In 2013, she passed away. My dad, who was a professional photographer for 50 years, was our unofficial photographer. He would do all our promo pics, and come with her to all the Cleveland gigs. He passed away in 2014.
We released a debut CD in 1996, then played out a lot for the next year and a half while attending college. We even stayed at college two summers just so we could play regionally. Some highlights include opening for the Violent Femmes, playing CBGB's, and sharing summer festival stages in PA on the same bill as "Weird Al" Yankovic, Cheap Trick and The Band.
I have always wanted to make some sort of video compilation of the band and release it on my label, Love Muffin Records. In 2014, I finally got all the shows transferred from VHS to DVD and decided 2015 was the year to finally go for it. Not only will this show some of our best performances, but it will also be a nice way to honor my parents for their dedication.
There will be some new features filmed just for the DVD including new interviews with journalists who covered us almost 20 years ago, a gallery of our best live photos, and more!
The release date of July 14th 2015 is also significant, as it is 20 years to the day of that first round of the contest in Cleveland.
What We Need & What You Get
The funding raised will be going towards all the expenses to make the DVD: from the video guy (assembling the footage, shooting new interviews, editing) to the duplication costs. It's also a new way to pre-order the video, as this will be a limited print run - unless there is a huge demand.
Perks will include copies of the DVD, and various items saved over the years - photos, flyers, promotional items, etc. Some of the items will be signed by the whole band or individual band members.
What happens if we don't reach the goal? The rest will be come out my pocket. So every little bit helps, but it would be nice to reach the goal.
Risks & Challenges
All the material has been autographed by the band members. We all live scattered over Ohio and Pennsylvania, so we had to mail the stuff to each other and hope it comes back in good shape. It did.
I have 3 journalists I want to interview. One was successful. Hopefully I can get the other 2 in time.
