I wanted to help other kids, and talked to my mom about how I could raise money to make a difference. She has a company and agreed to teach me how to make this work. NOTE: With our "donate a dress" program- you don't have to know a kid that is a girl- you just need to have the desire to help one!:)
Please check out our video here or above with me and a few of my friends! (and be sure to watch right through to the bloopers - they are the best)
WHAT IS IVY & ALEX?
We created ‘Ivy & Alex’ a line of kid’s dresses, to support causes I care about. "IVY" stands for "I Value You" & I'm ALEX - get it? :) Each dress is reversible (with a pattern side and a solid side with flower pocket, depending on your mood) and the dresses can change as you grow. So girls can wear it as a tunic (with cool tights) or a shirt once she’s outgrown it as a dress- which means it can last 3 or more years!

We worked with World Vision to find four projects to support. So buying a blue dress will help provide clean water (my personal favourite):

The green dress will help provide nutritious food:

The pink dress will help provide a chance to go to school or medicine (health stuff):

The red dress will support local programs in North America and help kids right here:

ASKING FOR HELP
I find it a bit weird asking for help, but I know that my project won't be as successful without it. We have gone through our plans and $15,000 will help with buying the first round of fabric (designed especially for us with its flower & heart design), buy labels, get some of the dresses and accessories made (right here in Canada!!!)

WHAT WILL WE DO WITH THE FUNDS?
Your help will help us promote the Ivy & Alex Project at trade shows, on our website, in stores, in media etc. We already have sold about 200 dresses to stores that are super excited about this- but that means we need the product! If we don't reach our goal, it would be very sad, and it will be really hard to make this project work. So please help! I would love to see tons of kids wearing these dresses this summer. Time is tight, but we have everything lined up and ready for a May delivery.
THE BEST PART- THE PERKS!
I have thought of some fun perks as well which I think you will like! How about dinner with me and my family at the top of the CN Tower in Toronto to discuss entrepreneurship, World Vision and fashion?

How about a trip with us to our debut at ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas where we are introducing our picket fence display for kids stores?
![]()
How about a free 3 in 1 convertible beach bag with your purchase ....because who doesn't love a beach bag?!
![]()
How about a 2 in 1 convertible bangle wristlet to carry your phone, money, lipgloss and things on a day out? Better than carrying a big purse right?

or just the chance to get in on an amazing product with added headband or hat for an Early Bird Price? Fun eh?
MY DAY AT WORLD VISION
Just recently, I was asked to speak to the World Vision head office - hundreds of employees! Here is some video and photos from that fun day! Everyone is pretty excited.

So please buy a dress, enjoy how its different than any dress out there, and please know you are helping others too. Wear your colour with pride! What could be better than that?
I’m really excited about this project, and I hope you are too! Thank you for taking the time to read my letter to you and for watching our video.
Love Alex xoxoxo <3
P.S. If you can't buy a dress or provide money to the campaign, I TOTALLY understand - BUT if you can get the word out and make some noise about this, that is good too! You're the best! And maybe try and use the Indiegogo share tools. I hear they really help. Thanks again - xo

QUESTIONS
How do I choose my sizes, colours, and styles?
At the end of the campaign we will send you a link to a page with a form to fill out where you can chose you sizes, colours and styles.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is included in all the packages for shipments to the Continental US and Canada. If you have ordered to somewhere else in the world, we will quote the shipping for you and get back to you, using the most reasonable of shipping guys.
What are you going to do with the money you raise?
The funds will first be used towards material for the dresses, production, labels, trade shows, marketing and everything we need to get the production done and the product in the hands of customers. Once we reach our goal, we are going to grow Ivy & Alex! We are already looking into new designs, colours, and maybe some items for the boys in our lives!
When do I get my product?
We have already started the ball rolling and expect all product to be available around mid to end of May 2015!
What sizes do the come in? How do I know what size to order?
Our hats and headbands are one size fits all. Our dresses are in two simple sizes- SMALL: age 2 years to 5 years plus; and LARGE 5 years to 8 years plus. This is accommodating for the "growth factor" our dresses provide. For example, f the child is age 2-4, we suggest the smaller size dress. If the child is age 4-6, we suggest the larger size. If the child is older than that, the large size will still work because of its convertibility! For example, I am 11 and the photo above is me wearing the large dress. I am 5 feet tall too! Keep in mind that this can still be a gift for a newborn, infant or toddler- something they can grow into.
If we reach a goal of $50,000 we will expand these dresses sizes to include larger sizes and perhaps a tween design and products for boys!
Everyone has a child in their life somewhere- daughter, granddaughter, friend, cousin, sister, godchild, neighbour! Pick up an extra for a thoughtful gift!

What are the dresses, hats and headbands made of?
Our dresses are ultra soft! It is a 100% poly blend that was specially made and printed for this campaign by a NY designer. Cool eh? Did you see the hearts that make up the flowers? Kind of goes with the World Vision message of giving back.
What if I don't like the stuff?
Ouch. That would be sad, but we would understand- weird things do happen. Just contact us at customerservice@flapjackkids.com and we will arrange a refund or exchange. Please just make sure to contact us within 30 days of receipt of the product, and the product must be unworn, and in its original condition and packaging.
Why did we partner with World Vision?
There are tons of great charities out there, so it was definitely hard to choose. But World Vision has done a great job at giving in all different areas- health, education, food, water. They help all different ages, genders- regardless of race or religion. I like that. No wonder so many famous folk have decided to become World Vision ambassadors - Tom Cochrane, Erica Ehm, Jann Arden, Alex Trebek, Mike Fisher, Pinball Clemons! That is pretty cool.
Shouldn't I be spending my time doing something else?
Sure- most kids are probably on their iPhone, at the mall, watching TV- and I love those things too (except the iPhone - haven't convinced mom on that one yet). But I can do most of those things anytime. How often do you get the chance to change the world (even just a little bit)? Exactly. I am up for it. Hope you are too!
