In the wake of her broken friendship, a girl in denial sifts through the past and present to figure out where things went wrong.

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Hello everyone! My name is Sky, and I’m the writer and director of Ivy, a live-action narrative short film! I’ve been passionate about making this piece for months, and it culminates a trilogy of films I’ve made during my time at NYU about what I see as the core of life: love, family, and friendship. Ivy is the latter. Friendship, to me, is one of the most spectacular phenomena, because true friends are the family you choose, the people who stand beside you regardless of obligation or blood. Romantic relationships, when you’re young, tend to be inherently finite. But friendships are inherently infinite. You may say to someone you’re dating “when we break up,” or plan for such, but never to a best friend would you say “when we stop being friends.” If you do, it is usually gradually: a drifting apart of sorts, not a “break up”. So when that breaking happens, it’s an ache unlike any other. Ivy is about that ache, and what it has the potential to turn us into. I hope Ivy can ease a heart somewhere, or make someone feel less alone, but me and my amazing team can’t do that without your help. 

Filmmaking is expensive, and, as students, we don’t have the funds to cover the film we want this to be. We humbly ask for any amount you’re willing to donate, in order to cover production costs such as transportation of equipment, production design, and food for our cast and crew.  Not a penny will go to waste, and any amount you’re able to give we’d be most appreciative and grateful for!
