Synapses is an Italian startup born to create everything we want that doesn’t already exist today.
We strongly believe in our work ethos. So much so, in fact, that we put it into our slogan: Synapses Technology at the Service of Creativity.
Our prototypes are designed, developed and manufactured entirely in Italy within the Synapse_Lab - 99% accompanied by a good slice of pizza or cup of coffee, in an exceptionally cool, relaxed environment.
We travel a lot, and so our Macbooks and their cases have become a part of us.
… the problem ...
One disappointment, however, is if we plug in the MagSafe Power Supply and it doesn’t work because the power cord is broken, split or frayed. This results in lost time while Andrea and Francesco, our HW specialists, fix it.

We were fed up with buying new cables each year, spending more than $80 each time.
One morning, however, our designer Domenico woke up with the idea of using a spring to solve the problem.

It seemed almost too simple, but we all started working on this new idea and bit by bit, IVY started to grow.

IVY stops us from wasting money on new cables. As a bonus, it helps people to look after the planet by reducing the number of broken and discarded MagSafes.
We’re now ready to share our solution with the world - but for that we need your help.

As you can see, the manufacturing procedure is low impact compared to that of a plastic tool.
IVY is 100% recyclable, as it’s made with iron.
Technology
IVY is a tool designed to displace the cable’s stress point by spreading it over a greater area.
Since the first prototype was produced, significant improvements have been made to both the materials used and the installation time.

Installation
IVY can be installed in less than a minute without the use of any tools.
Design
It's minimalist in design, consisting of only one piece of metal with a smooth surface and no branding, which fits snugly around the cable. We wanted to keep it simple, and focus on functionality. On the other hand, though, we are Italian, so we love design and personalising our tools. IVY is therefore available in four different colours:
