Jason Floyd is your typical American family man. He is
married to a pediatric registered nurse and they have 6 beautiful children... he loves spending time with them, he loves the outdoors, and he belongs to the Catholic Church.
And he needs your help!
Jason suffers from type 2 Diabetes, and this puts a
tremendous strain on every aspect of his life. 4 times a day he must prick his
finger in order to monitor his blood sugar levels, and he must inject himself
twice a day with insulin. Even when you include the twice daily 1000mg doses of Metformin,
Jason’s condition is hardly under control. HbA1C is a measure of blood sugar, with a healthy level considered
to be below 6.5. Jason’s consistently measures (severely) between 9.6 and 11.6.
Levels
such as this create a high risk of kidney, nerve and cardiovascular
complications, some of which Jason is already beginning to feel the effects. He
experiences clouded thoughts, tingling in the hands (a sign of diabetic neuropathy) and unusually
cold feet (a sign of vascular inefficiency).
In
the past, managing this condition was the only option available to people like
Jason. But there now is a procedure which can help people like Jason go on to
live happy, normal lives without the intrusive nature of type 2 Diabetes.
Medical evidence exists that shows that (metabolic hormone resection surgery) can have a tremendous
effect that virtually rids/cures the body of diabetes.
Jason
wants to give this a shot, so he can go back to living a normal life.
But
like many Americans, the cost of health care is proving prohibitive. Thankfully through
Jason's desperation and longtime research he has made a grand friend in Dr Peter Goh, (dr.goh@petergohsurgery.com) a world renown metabolic expert. He has agreed to performing the surgery pro bono which removes a huge
part of the cost associated with the overall procedure. Jason is able to cover
his travel costs to have the operation performed in Singapore, but we need to
raise a further $15,000 USD to cover the hospital costs. Without these funds
Jason can’t get the operation that he so desperately needs.
If we
can raise the $15,000 USD needed for Jason he has the chance to live out his
life without the scourge of type 2 Diabetes, and he can serve as an example for
others living with the disease that management is no longer their only option –
there is a chance to remove the disease from the majority of their lives.
