Short Summary
At the beginning of 2014, Richard Linklater's Boyhood came onto the indie scene in Sundance, shocking the viewers with its momentous scope and realism. One of the scenes that makes the film so breathtakingly accurate takes place in a public school bathroom, where Mason (main character played by Ellar Coltrane) is picked on by two other kids. And while I adored this film, I wished Linklater had developed more on this subject.
Bullying is a major problem in our youth culture today. Countless are affected, from the bullies to the bullied. What struck me is that no film, whether it be made on a Hollywood set or a friend's backyard, has covered the issue with the depth it deserves. Is it too risky?
Enter Jeremy's Sin. Our first feature film at Doghouse Productions captures the psychological effects of bullying. It follows a college sophomore as he reflects on his time as a middle schooler, and when he was brutally tormented by his peers.
