We are Cory and Jaclyn Yates, proud owners of Jersey Bagels. When we met in Houston 6 years ago our first conversation was about New Jersey. The east coast way of life runs deep in our family. With this comes a greater appreciation for authentic east coast staples, one of those staples being bagels. Great food has always been a passion of ours as we spend many hours either in the kitchen or trying local restaurants. We jumped at the opportunity to create Jersey Bagels once we realized we could combine our passion for food with our roots. Having the opportunity to serve the community while doing something we love is beyond humbling. Achieving our campaign goal will allow us to fully embark on our mission of spreading authentic New Jersey style bagels across the greater Houston area, starting with Northwest Houston.

How You Can Help
By reaching our goal we will be able to rent a commercial kitchen, purchase a food truck and establish a strong presence at local markets and food truck parks. We have received quotes for all necessary equipment to set up our food truck thus leading to our $60,000 goal. If we don't reach our goal then we will use all funds raised to rent a commercial kitchen and purchase supplies to set up a booth at several local markets. We won't be able to reach our goal without your support and with your support comes some pretty cool perks. The perks may differ but they all come with our genuine appreciation for your contribution. Whether we fill your wardrobe with a fresh Jersey Bagels shirt or your belly with some delicious bagels, we will be dishing out some pretty cool perks that you will want to get your hands on.
What's To Come
The need for a different, quick, affordable and delicious breakfast/brunch/lunch establishment in our area is evident. Although quick and delicious, its safe to say the donut and kolache scene in Houston is flooded. That is where we come in. Whether providing something new to our native Texans or helping our east coast transplants get a taste of back home, Jersey Bagels will offer customers something hard to find in this area. We will offer flavors of the month to keep things interesting as well as frequent giveaways and discounts. We realize there aren't many opportunities like the one we have right now. That is why we are all in and willing to go the extra mile to make Jersey Bagels an even bigger success.
Risks & Challenges
Chasing our dreams can be fulfilling but it comes with its challenges and risks. As much as we pride ourselves on our east coast roots, presenting this style of food in Houston has its disadvantages. East coast staples are somewhat foreign to Southerners, but it won't take long for everyone to understand the hype around Jersey Bagels. We decided to test the market by launching our operation out of our home. Needless to say the operation was a huge success and the market for Jersey Bagels is rather large. The restaurant business can be expensive and repairs to major equipment are always around the corner. We have witnessed this firsthand. With this experience comes the realization that a small portion of funds raised will need to be set aside for future equipment repairs. That way if any speed bumps come our way we won't miss a beat. We have also networked with local restaurant owners and obtained an adviser thus ensuring some business guidance along the way.
