Hello there!  We are the team behind Deep Space Gallery, a tiny art gallery in Jersey City with monthly exhibitions and regular programming designed for the enjoyment and creative expression of our community.

AN EXTRA-ORDINARY INVITATION

To our surprise and delight, we recently received an invitation from the European Cultural Centre in Italy to participate in an international art showcase in Venice THIS MONTH during the city's 60th annual Biennale d'Arte, one of the largest art happenings in contemporary visual art. 

While the logistical and financial challenges involved are great, we decided that this invitation is such a unique honor and special opportunity for our artists that we had to find a way to make it happen. We turned our uncertainties into enthusiasm, resourcefulness and a determination to represent our creative community, our home city and New Jersey in the best way possible. 

Our installation will be on view from April 20 through November 24, 2024, and it is free to visit and open to the public six days a week. Over the course of the 7-month exhibition, an estimated 600,000 visitors (!!!) from around the world will view our artists' works.

We can’t wait to rep Jersey City in Venice!  Help us make it real!

INSPIRED BY HOME

In order to realize this project, we assembled a team of seven local artists to respond to our thematic prompt of “home.”  Each artist, working in a unique medium, has taken on a different element of what makes a given space feel like home -- shelter, boundaries, personalization, comfort, protection, safety, memories, mementos and beautification -- and their essence will be communicated in our collective installation entitled Memory Palace. 

With our artist team and installation concept established, we committed ourselves to realizing the vision.  The artists have gotten to work on creating the art and we are all working on the logistics involved in installing this exhibition overseas, in addition to the massive fundraising efforts needed to cover the exhibition space fees, the cost of transporting the art and the installation expenses -- all to be completed in less than 2 weeks now!  

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

To date, we have collectively raised our first fundraising target and we are hopeful that we can reach our final milestones with support from our community.  If you're in a position to contribute financially to our fundraising efforts, we'd be so grateful. We have some really great thank you gifts (art!!) to express our appreciation -- we hope you like them, too.
