Short Summary
This organised event is to help JOHN HERBERT , one of Singapore’s longest, most respected and revered sound engineers, who helmed the famous Lion Studios for 25 years, and who is now in his last throes and very last stages of pancreatic cancer.
John Herbert is a name that we all know here in Singapore, as he has been one of the longest and most established recording engineers in this little island. He has recorded and produced recordings for countless local artistes in Singapore and Asia, a veritable Who’s Who of the Asia music industry - artistes such as Teresa Teng and Alan Tam from Hong Kong, Tracy Huang from Taiwan, Malaysian Rock groups "Search" and "Headwind" and M. Nasir, and Sho Jo Tai from Japan.
Well-known for his jazz recordings, he has recorded local jazz artistes and international jazz stars like Charlie Haden, Al Foster, Grammy award-winners Ernie Watts & Bob James, Baritone Saxophonist Pim Dijkstra from Europe and the late great pianist Bubi Chen from Indonesia. Classical artistes who have worked with John include Swiss composer Heinrich Schweizer, Singapor- based composer conductor & educator Dr Robert Casteels, The National Youth Orchestra of Singapore, The Symphonic Wind Orchestra, The New Festival Orchestra, concert pianist Tedd Joselson, Guitarists Hucky Eichelmann and Guiliano Belotti, among many others.
What We Need & What You Get
John is now seriously very ill, and is in his last throes, and as a UK citizen he does not get any subsidy from the Singapore government and he needs help with this medication and hospital fees.
A friend of his has agreed to be guarantor but with a SGD $25000 and rising hospital bill chalked up, he has reached out to us for help. We, as his friends who have had the good fortune to work with him, will always remember and respect this great artiste.

Risks & Challenges
We are not sure how much time John has left to fight the disease. But it hangs heavily on his mind that his friend/guarantor would have to cough up a huge amount of money for his hospital because John cannot afford to pay it.
