Foreward from Karen:

HELLO!! Thank you for visiting my campaign! My name is Karen Wright and I started this fundraiser for my sister Jennifer. She is an amazing person who has worked so hard to get where she is today. I know she deserves to go back to school! I am excited to see how far this next opportunity will take her, as she has already helped as a role model to those who have struggled with chronic pain. I hope you, too, will find her story to be inspirational.

ABOUT ME

Hi. I am Jennifer Jones, an average American woman from NJ and on a mission.  *I appreciate you're taking time to read*

Back story:

Due to a bad car accident in 1997, damage led to the diagnosis of several chronic pain disorders. During the first 10 year period, I was prescribed 53 different pharmaceuticals equaling over 70,000 pills. After the wheelchair and walker, I utilized lofstran crutches to hold me up while I dragged my legs from behind.  I gained 150 pounds (and developed arthritis in my spine) from spending the majority of time bedridden. At times, a full on chore was getting myself to the bathroom, even with assistance. Many days had the single goal of getting a shower. I was merely surviving. I had had enough. I wanted to live.

The Transformation:

In 2007, I sought out alternative medicine and through the discipline of many practices: yoga, meditation, changing diet and adjusting routines,  my body was supported in removing the narcotics and majority of medications. I have finally weaned myself off the last pharmaceutical (for nerve pain) this January! Seeing as I had been through 10 hard detox's- (sweats, chills, profound depression, vomiting, nausea & horrific body pain) I do not ever want to go through that again. So, personal studies have taken on an exploration of more natural, similarly effective, less side effect options. I have lost 157 pounds, triglycerides dropped from 1400's to 70s & I can touch my toes again!  The effects of these holistic practices have been witnessed personally, through observation of my physicians, family and friends and scientifically through various tests. There is no doubt that this transformation was... dramatic.

My Goal and Funding:

My goal is to get to school in mid September for Holistic Nutrition and Western Herbalism. Yes, I am asking for help. The ambition, motivation and determination are all in place, funding however is not. Starting all over and saving for awhile now, still short. Donations will offset school expenses: classes and materials, housing and transportation. I hope that you will find a reason to choose my campaign as your gift will not be wasted. I have much to do in this lifetime and many lives I wish to have a positive impact on. Wisdoms learned, need to be shared.

Come, be a part of the Story!

Gifts:

Contributors receiving a bead from the bead chain exhibit will get a handcrafted gift card, each numbered and signed. Replacement beads will carry contributors name (or initials) and corresponding card number.  {*beads were recycled, repurposed and donated to this display*}

**I would like to sincerely thank my sister, Karen for starting this page in continued support of reaching my goals.

Thank you Green Day- this song resonates with me deeply.

NOTE- The opening photograph is made of MY pill containers from the 10 years following the accident...1,102 in total.
