Short Summary

Hi everyone!

My name is Jon Hughes, and you probably know me best as the founder of an independent comic book publishing imprint called Overground Comics.  If you don't, that's okay, we're pretty small.  While most of my experience in comic books is as a writer, I also enjoy drawing, and I drew quite a few covers for the Overground books  when it was necessary.  During my time as a publisher, I continued to work as a commission artist to help raise money for my comic books, and the result is a lengthy portfolio of sketch covers, a popular collectible in the comic book community.  I've decided to collect my best works into a book in order to, you guessed it, raise some money for my further comic book projects.

What We Need & What You Get

I need to raise funds for an upcoming project, and so I'm offering this new anthology with some cool perks to go along with it, namely a lot of original art.  I'm doing my best to make these works in the highest quality, to give you all incentive to take part in this.  Remember, even though I'm a writer and editor professionally, I've been drawing my whole life, and I hope to make an impact with this project.

The Impact

Being an independent artist and publisher is a difficult thing.  Long hours often meet with little pay, and the financial ups can be few and far between the downs.  Since getting married a couple of years ago (best day of my life), it's been harder for me to travel as much as I used to, given that my wife and I are raising two wonderful children, so I have to depend more on projects like this in order to reach clients.  If you like my work, contributing to this project can do so much good for me.  Being able to continue my work without sacrificing the time my family needs from me is monumental to me and to them.  

Risks & Challenges

Everyone knows that artists who work on commissions can sometimes be notoriously slow, and I am no exception to that rule sometimes.  I've been known to take my time in delivering, trying to find ways to balance everything.  I am, however, a professional.  I delivered 30 published comic books on time, and for the most part, I do the same with my commissions.  I pledge to do everything possible to deliver every perk of this project on time.   The book is already complete, so there is no waiting on that.  The only work I'll need to complete is any commissions purchased through this campaign.
