Since 2008 Joyland Magazine has brought you the best fiction from North America, in print and online, using our networked editorial outposts across the United States, Canada, and beyond.  This geographical diversity means there’s no single Joyland voice and we’ve been able to publish bestselling authors alongside uncompromising new talents including Jonathan Lethem, Amelia Gray, Lydia Millet, Roxane Gay, Peter Orner, Lynne Tillman, Emily St. John Mandel, Lynn Coady, Molly Antopol, and hundreds more.

It’s a conversation between writers and places that is unique among literary journals.

To keep the conversation going we are in need of a new site. With over 500 stories in our archive an up-to-date design will make Joyland a stable destination not only for readers, but for teachers and professors who rely on our open content.

Our web developer has already pledged generously discounted hours to the project and with your help we can cover the rest. The new site will:

-Run much smoother on mobile platforms

-Use less memory and look sharper

-Generate a text archive of all works on the site. Maintaining an archive that will be readable for years is an incredibly important issue facing digital publishing.

Any money raised after our goal is met will be put towards a paid internship program for 2015.
