Justice for Keith LaMar Documentary Project

In 1995, Keith LaMar was sentenced to death on charges related to the 1993 prison uprising at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, Ohio, even though there was no physical or forensic evidence linking Keith LaMar to the murders that occurred during the uprising. In fact, prosecutors actually withheld critical evidence (confessions, indictments, etc.) in the case that could have proven Keith LaMar innocent of the charges brought against him. Now, with the State’s plans to execute Keith LaMar moving forward, it is crucial that the public be made aware of this travesty so that informed people can appeal to the State to stop this execution.

The goal of this documentary project is to show who Keith LaMar is, why he is innocent of the capital crimes he was charged with related to the Lucasville Uprising, and how people can unite to redress this injustice. A 3-minute trailer with an emotional appeal (linking to the 30-minute film) will be easily shared through various forms of social media, in order to help bring Keith's story to the wider public.

Scioto Peace & Justice, a local branch of the Fellowship of Reconciliation that is located near the Lucasville prison, has commissioned this project with a total goal of raising $3,000 (privately and online). As of May 21, 2014, we have already raised $550 and now seek to raise additional funds to pay for production and distribution costs. We appeal to you to help pay for these costs by making a contribution of any amount today. Please know that your energy and attention to helping our brother Keith fight for his life is deeply appreciated by all who stand in support of him. Time is of the essence!
