About myself:
I have been creatively bent since my childhood. However, I never had a chance to explore it in detail. After finishing my education and spending few years of the regular life which had its own sweet moments, I thought of exploring a new chapter in life. I always loved the creative facet of film-making and was curious to explore this process to see where I fit in. In an attempt to learn the nuances of making a film, I made a docudrama – “LAKESIDE WALK” (~ 42 mins) with few of my good friends. It was a reveling experience. However, I realized that my inclination and aptitude within this entire process was towards writing and or directing the film. Following it, I pursued “Screen Writing” course from The New York Film Academy.
The story of my next project was again inspired by some real incidents that involved my friends who started working for consulting companies and that’s how “FAKE THE WORLD” (~ 45 mins) came through. This docudrama was released via Telugu One YouTube Channel. Although this was an amateurish film made with limited resources, the audience got connected to the film as this is an everyday story for many international students and recent graduates in USA aka inti inti ramayanam. The good reception of “FAKE THE WORLD” gave me the required boost and confidence in determining my future forward.
My first official project as an assistant director was for the movie – “TERROR” starring Srikanth, Nikita, Kota Srinivas Rao, Nassar, Vinay Varma etc., directed by Satish Kasetty. Working on this project gave me the real time experience to all the angles/aspects of film making. Next opportunity I got was for a bilingual (Hindi & Telugu) film – “GHAZI” (tentative title) starring Rana Daggupati, Taapsee Pannu, KK Menon, Atul Kulkarni, Om Puri etc. directed by Sankalp. This movie is produced by renowned PVP Cinema and will be released in few months.
The exposure of working with these two productions has been critical and instrumental in my learning process. With this knowledge and experience, before I embark on my journey into feature length, I am gearing up to direct a short film (~12 min) based on real life situation and close to my heart, which I penned down couple years ago –“Jyoti”. It is the story of a little girl from an orphanage studying in a government school.
I am looking forward to make this film happen with crowd funding. Kindly contribute for this project. Your support is greatly appreciated.
This is to keep you informed that Sireesha Kanuri, my sister, will be helping me in pooling the money through her PayPal account and will transfer the money to me in India.
