We are a group of film enthusiasts in Sweden that makes film on Super 8. And now it is time for us to do something exciting, a medieval drama on Super 8mm film. Why? Because we can and want to.
The story is about a mayors daughter and a peasant boy that are best friends as children, but after a devastating event they get separated from each other. Ten years later their paths cross again and they become friends, and start to fall in love with each other. And the mayors daughter wants to give the boy something that belonged to him as a child, but when the Mayor himself finds out what is going on, he gets furious and does everything he can to stop them.
We will make a 28 minute long short film that will be screened at festivals all over the world, and sold on DVD and as a Digital Download-file. And we will shoot it on , since we have the culture and historic places for this film.
Our shooting dates are set to April 21st to May 4th this year and then we are planning to have our premier at Uppsala International Short Film Festival in October 2012, if we can make it in time.
We are working together with Produktionsplats Gotland, that is our co-producers in this.
We believe that people will like this project, since it is in Super 8mm and it is medieval. Those two things combined is just exciting.
And we want to make this project become real, just because we want to show that it is possible to make films in Super 8, and that Super 8 is still alive.
IF, and it is a big if, this project wouldn't become real all fundings will be returned, but we hope and are doing everything we can to make this happen. So your help is needed!
So, what do we need? The total budget of this film is $19'670, but we are looking for $8'000 here at Indiegogo. If we get more, we won't complain.
The budget looks like this:
$6'500 - Film and processing at pro8mm.com
$6'000 - Technical equipment such as lightning, grip, sound and so on
$1'400 - Budget for locations
$1'400 - Budget for costumes and props
$1'000 - Food budget, $100 per day
$900 - Food budget
$900 - Power supply for lightning and other electric needs
$450 - Make-up budget
$450 - Gas and car allowance
$370 - Fares for transportation over seas
$300 - Unexpected costs during shooting
Total: $19670
So what exactly do we want to gain by this campaign? Well, our hope is that we will get the film and processing financed through this.
We have asked a lot of companies and institutions, such as Medeltidsveckan på Gotland, Film on , Region Gotland, Filmcentrum Stockholm, Sällskapet De Badande Wännerna and many others, for their help. We have got some interest from some of these, and as soon as we hear anything from them, we will let you know.
If we don't get full financing, we will still make this film. We just have to find the money somewhere else and maybe cut down at some of the costs.
Yes, there is a contest, just to make this a bit more interesting. If you contribute to this project, by buying a perk, you will automatic be a part of the contest where we will pick one that will get everything that an associate producer will get plus a golden diploma, a video on our youtube account where we will say "Congratz and Thank you" and last but not least DVD's of director Pierre Wilén's three latest short film: Taken by the frost, Back to Home and Evil Blood.
So contribute and you might become the winner!
Spread the word of this campaign! Like us on Facebook! If you live on Gotland and want to be a part of the film as an extra or by lending us props and/or costumes, just send us an e-mail at: super8production@gmail.com
We hope that you believe in us and this project, because we believe in you and your help.
