Hi, :-) I’m Kimberly Kelly. I’m a Texas girl living in Nashville who started writing, singing and playing country music a while ago in my home state, until I moved up to Tennessee to sing background vocals on the road with my sister. Backing her up, I was able to sing at the Opry, the Ryman, and on tours while she opened for Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts and Alan Jackson. All the while, I continued writing songs (even had another artist Tara Thompson record one recently) and playing as much I could, and it was truly hard to ignore the desire I still had to write songs and sing them as the artist myself.
So, I'm making a country record—something you can smile to. I'm making a record you dance to (Don’t tell me you forgot how to two-step?) And I'm making a record you can just plain HAVE A GOOD TIME TO. Cause that’s all I want my music to do!
This album (EP) will include songs I’ve been writing with a few of my friends, folks like Larry McCoy (“Make Me Wanna” Thomas Rhett), Neal Coty (cuts by Blake Shelton, Mark Chesnutt), Jessie Jo Dillon (cuts by George Strait, Brandy Clark, Maren Morris, Luke Bryan), Erin Enderlin (cuts by Alan Jackson, Luke Bryan, LeeAnn Womack “Last Call”), Radney Foster (I could write a whole separate paragraph about what all he’s done), Keesy Timmer (“Yeah Boy” Kelsea Ballerini), and Brett Tyler, who’ll also serve as producer (cuts by Maren Morris, Dustin Lynch, Chris Young, Joe Nichols). Also included will be a tune fellow Texan Ben Danaher wrote with Brett that I just had to record.
I’ve already got this thing started. I released “Put Some Lipstick On It” last fall, seven years after I made my second CD (third time’s a charm, right?) I had plans for putting out a second single this summer, but after spending a week back home in Texas during March, really thinking about the recording process, it all just kept tugging at my heart—how grateful I am for each and every one of you—how you keep showing up and asking for more. That's when I realized I can’t possibly get all this new music out to y’all as fast as you and I are both wanting it without some help…y’all know I’m still on a part-time speech pathologist’s budget. That’s right, I haven’t quit that day job. That’s what’s kept this dream alive, not a record deal or publishing contract—I don’t need those things because I have YOU. And that’s what’s important.
I'm very fortunate to be able to work with some of the best musicians, engineers and studios in town, allowing me to make a great product. Unfortunately, recording music these days can be very expensive. I'm also incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a lot of great friends in the business to help me keep the costs down. With that in mind, here’s where I’m at: my job has afforded me the opportunity to get this project started, but there's still some hard costs I can’t avoid (trust me, I’ve tried) and that I still need money for:
- studio time
- players
- engineering
- mixing
- mastering
- duplication
- album art and promotion
This is why I need YOU: my people, my most treasured friends, family and fans (welcome if you're new!) to be involved in the making of this EP by pre-purchasing goods and services, and taking advantage of incentives, including house concerts, purchasing my FIRST EVER VINYL RECORD (how cool is that?), or maybe even attending a rodeo with me! Check out what I have to offer.
Every little bit helps. The goal I’ve set is flexible (I get to keep some of what is raised even if we don’t reach the total goal), but your speedy transaction is crucial, as there is only a limited amount of time to raise funds, and there are certain things I won’t be able to include on the project if I don’t have the help I need in reaching this goal. We have until July 31st to fund this thing!
I am incredibly proud of the music I’ve been creating, but I'm only as strong as my fan base. I believe that with your support we can make one hell (“heck,” sorry Granny) of a country record. So let's do this!
If you’ve read down this far, I hope your next move is to make a pledge. Take advantage of the incentives to the right. If you’re unable to help monetarily, please share this project with your friends and family, and know that from the bottom of my heart, I still thank you—every little bit truly helps. I hope you find the rewards fun and fulfilling, and that you’re excited to join me in this journey! By pledging right now, you can know that you had a huge part in the making of a project that had you in mind all along. I promise I’ll keep you updated along the way, and in the end give you an EP full of some good ol’ country music that you’ll love as much as I do.
Y’all. All my love and thanks—really can’t tell you enough!
Kim
Risks and challenges
This funding goal allows us to comfortably complete the EP, even if a few unseen costs arise. If the goal is not met, there will be new music, I just can’t promise how much and how fast you will be able to get your hands on it, or if there will be any additional fun stuff to go with it. I will do everything in my power to reward you in a timely manner for your pledge, and to make this experience a pleasing and entertaining one. That being said, there are sometimes unexpected delays in production, with release dates and merchandise fulfillment. I promise to keep you informed along the way so you feel you are truly a part of this, because you are.
