Short Summary
This story, more than any other I've worked on, means something. I think it says more than my previous works and raises some important themes that are more relevant in today's climate than ever before.
It looks at compulsion, self-control, judgement, addiction, anger and hate. It is born out of my own struggles with all of the above, but is told in such a way that hopefully all of us will find some connection with it.
Edward Zwick once said “There is no reason why challenging themes and engaging
stories have to be mutually exclusive - in fact, each can fuel the other. As a filmmaker, I want to entertain people first and foremost. If out of that comes a greater awareness and understanding of a time or a circumstance, then the hope is that change can happen.”
I want to make this film in the hope that one person changes the way they think or act for the better while I have been able to tell a good story.
I've been a filmmaker for around 15 years now and have always funded my passion projects by scraping together some cash and begging favours where I could. It's incredibly touching to see how much people are willing to give and to experience how hard people are willing to work for you for the promise of a sandwich and a copy of the film. But I can't ask people to do that anymore.
My hope is that this film will help people to think about the way the see the world and other people while entertaining them at the same time.
What We Need & What You Get
It takes a lot of people doing a lot of things to get a film made. Your contribution towards this film will help with the following:
- finding a suitable cast and crew
- paying said cast and crew
- hiring essential equipment (camera, lights, sound)
- hiring locations
- catering
- post-production, including editing, music and sound design
- film festival submissions
And as a way of expressing my huge gratitude for your help, I will endeavour to give you some small perks like:
- a copy of the script
- your own version of the film
- a credit in the film
- a copy of the score
But more than that, I hope that you will feel a part of the process and be a proud owner of the film that you helped to create.
Risks & Challenges
Of course, making a film has it's challenges and things can go wrong; people get ill, equipment fails...the list goes on. But in my years, I've experienced most of these setbacks and am now more equipped than ever to be able to handle them.
But the biggest challenge on this film is a creative one. We have to make our audience care about a seemingly awful woman and that will need a stylistic and technical approach that only a very talented team could achieve.
Other Ways You Can Help
Money isn't everything. Sometimes, just saying "good luck" or "Kee, that sounds like a great idea" is more than enough. Any support I receive is greatly appreciated.
Another way is to share this and any other bits you see about the film online; Facebook, Twitter etc. Word of Mouth helps massively with these things.
