A short film that deals with coming out as a lesbian in a comedic South African context.

Logline: When a closeted lesbian brings home her black "boyfriend" to meet her racist parents, she is shocked by their enthusiasm about the relationship. 

What Is  Koeksister?

A koeksister is an obnoxiously sweet plaited doughnut-like-pastry dipped in syrup.

It is also a euphemism in South Africa for being a lesbian.

The Impact

• This film is for the LGBT community.  We are trying to let them know that it is
  

okay for them not to think that they need to compromise whom they are and 

what they believe in for their parents.

• Contrary to what we may believe about how ‘far” we think South Africans have
  

come in terms of homosexuality, statistics show that 80% of homosexuals 

between these age brackets are yet to come out of the closet. Additionally, 26% 

of gays and lesbian youth are forced to leave home because of conflicts with their 

families over their sexual identities.

We want you to help us bring courage to the youth to be who they want too be.
