Short Summary
Em returns home wearing an eyepatch to find her stepsister has joined a cult. Wylie’s been skinning wild animals in the California high desert, and a mysterious figure is on the loose again. In a surreal version of Los Angeles in late spring, a group of young people are forced to contend with their inability to tell the truth — and their wild interest in the LA literary scene of the 90s.
What We Need & What You Get
We are looking to raise $2,000 to pay the designers we would like to hire, and make sure the atmosphere of the play is properly portrayed. We also want to raise money to pay the actors properly.
The Impact
By contributing to this show, you are supporting fair wages and compensation for all artists involved. This means that your donation goes beyond just funding a production; it's an investment in the arts and a commitment to ensuring all artists are fairly compensated for their creativity and hard work.
Risks & Challenges
We are embarking on a challenging production that demands a formidable creative team and skilled actors to ensure its success. However, with the rising costs and post-pandemic inflation, our current budget is only sufficient to cover the essentials such as sourcing costume pieces and minimal design elements. What remains in the budget is far from adequate to compensate all actors and collaborators in a manner befitting their contributions.
Each person involved in this project is deeply committed to shaping a highly theatrical and audacious theatrical piece. We want to have an equal payment to every artist regardless of their role. The funds we are raising are intended to bridge this financial gap, ensuring that talent and dedication are not only acknowledged but also appropriately rewarded to the best of our ability. Together, we aim to foster an environment where every contributor receives fair recognition for their invaluable role in bringing this artistic vision to life.
