We spent the last few months field testing the system all throughout South East Asia. On our journey throughout Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, we gathered feedback from travellers and made the necessary tweaks to ensure the bag would stand up to our lifetime warranty.

The design for the Kosan Travel Pack System began some 10 years and 30 countries ago. Ever since we started travelling, we felt like there had to be a more comfortable and smart way to carry your gear. After about a year of planning and research, we finally put pen to paper and began designing the bag.  

  

 

 

 

We are working with an incredible factory to design and produce this bag. Located in Vietnam, just outside of Ho Chi Minh City, they are absolute pros at making all sorts of technical bags, as well as paragliding equipment! When the quality of gear can result in life or death, we knew that this was the perfect factory for us.   

 

 

After submitting initial sketches and the first few prototypes, we hopped on a plane to Ho Chi Minh to meet with our factory partners face-to-face. We wanted to be very hands-on with the factory, to oversee the quality and get to know exactly where and who would be making our bags. 

We spent a week living at our factory manager’s dormitory, ironing out the finer details of the bag.

Every day, we worked alongside our team and met with and visited local fabric suppliers. We ate lunch with the factory workers (fish and rice) and spent a day testing out our latest prototype in the Mekong Delta with the team. We were even invited to a Vietnamese wedding where the karaoke was mandatory!

  

 We are Kosan, a small group of friends who love to travel. We started Kosan because we wanted to help travellers prepare for their journeys by making clothing and gear for world travel. And by world travel, we mean the kind where you submerse yourself entirely in new cultural experiences, which is at the heart of our business. We started Kosan for three reasons:

1) We love to travel. Like REALLY love to travel.

2) We believe with all our hearts that travel is fundamental to overcoming bigotry and prejudice. Through travel and trade, we can all work towards a more peaceful and accepting world. 

 

3) It’s high time a company made goods exclusively for travellers.

  

 

 

 

We believe that travel can effect positive change by inspiring new perspectives about the world you live you in, and that the more you travel, the better off the world will be. We also know that the better prepared you are, the more you will be able to enjoy the experience.
