Short Summary
The time has nearly come for Kristy and Jason to begin their cross-country journey from Charlottesville, VA to Tucson, AZ, where they will join their friend, Shaena to open Studio Sol and bring meditation, yoga, and Nia to all. They will travel over 6,000 miles to see the sights, hike, camp, rock climb, and meet interesting people along the way. Kristy will write about their trip in her blog www.mindfulnessonthemove.com.
In April, Kristy left her job as Administrative Director of the UVA Mindfulness Center to focus her time and energy on building Studio Sol with her friend, Shaena. She spent most of June in Tucson to lay the groundwork for the studio so that it will be ready to take off upon arrival in October. Over the summer, she has been giving presentations on Mindful Movement to medical groups in Charleston, WV, leading a yoga retreat to the Outer Banks, NC, and writing her blog www.mindfulnesonthemove.com, which will be turned into a book later this year.
Jason has a degree from UVA in Earth Science and has been perfecting his culinary skills at Revolutionary Soup for the past two years. He recently provided nourishment at a yoga retreat in the Outer Banks, NC. His contribution to the retreat was called "nourishment for the body and the soul." In addition to teaching mindful cooking classes, he is also studying to become a personal trainer and will lead rock climbing expeditions in Tucson.
Through education and movement classes, Kristy, Jason, and Shaena will help alleviate suffering and bring peace to anyone who is looking for it.
What We Need & What You Get
As we have been preparing for the move across country, we have received much support and well-wishes from our families and friends. We have whittled our possessions down to only what will fit in our cars as we drive them across the country to Tucson. We are now asking our friends and family to help us along on our journey by supplying the funds to ensure our basic needs are met along the way.
Your contributions will help us buy gas, food, camping equipment, state and national park passes, and lodging. Any additional funds will be used toward the start up of Studio Sol.
