The Basics
We all remember the classics on the NES, but sadly many of the games of that era are either hard to find, too expensive or simply don't work properly with modern TVs. With the wonders of computers it is possible to relive these games using emulators and hacked ROMs, this however isn't exactly legal. With Lair of Dread we hope to capture the spirit of those games and add some flair to the classic 2d platformer genre.
What's a PorkTruck?
Porktruck Games is the name our group has taken to calling ourselves. This will be our first commercially released game, and it's a labor of love, but you are probably wondering who we are.
PorkTruck Games Team members:
Justin Wilson - Developer
Dan Fisette - Art
Joe Peterson - Music
Jae Wilson - Writer
The story
You are an assassin, a member of an elite group called the black cloaks. You're hired to kill the Prince of a neighboring principality. Things are not as they seem when the plan goes awry the black cloak must venture to confront the ones who sent him, or return to the order in failure, a most certain death.
How it is
I'll put it simply, with this successfull campaign, the team at PorkTruck Games will be able to put more time, energy and love into the game making it all the better. I would like to develop the game full time to its completion and with your help I can do that. With any level of support, you'll receive the game in its entirety, however those who contribute more will receive special perks such as their name in the credits or even characters named after them in game.
As it stands right now, the mechanics of the game are complete, the ability to run, jump, attack, and complete levels are already implemented. With more time and a little help we can improve the look of the game and extend it more more levels, environments and music.
Why is it different?
I know there are lots of Indie games and Indie game developers hoping for support to get their games off the ground, but I believe Lair of Dread can breathe new life into the 2d platformer genre.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you're unable to help contribute, that's okay I'm glad you came to check out the game. If you are still looking to find some way to help, why not share this page on Facebook, Twitter, or any other social medium. Anything you can do will go a long way in making the game better.
