We are Dragon Elements, a Spain-based disruptive startup born from SCALE Nanotech, a cutting-edge R&D company specializing in advanced nanomaterials and next-gen microdevices.

Our CEO, Santiago Cartamil, is also the Managing Director of SCALE Nanotech. We are not just an idea or a few slides, we are the real deal!

Where Did LATIDO® Come From?

LATIDO® hardware is the result of years of cutting-edge research in advanced materials and nanophotonics. It combines internal developments together with breakthroughs from the MEGAMORPH project, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101004462.

During this project, we successfully developed ultra-thin graphene-based display GMOD® prototypes. However, we realized the potential went beyond just screens… and we decided to reinvent the entire way we experience audiovisual content!

Now, with Dragon Elements, we are commercializing this breakthrough and putting it directly in the hands of the people. Because this technology is too big for a single startup to bring it forward by itself and because we believe the right way to launch it is through the power of community.

But Do We Really Have WORKING PROTOTYPES?

Yes! We have already demonstrated LATIDO® in action, including:

• A projected static image of a pulsing heart, glowing red, created for Valentine’s Day.
• A tree blinking in green light, synchronized to a winter holiday song.
• Live demos at Display Week 2024, where industry professionals saw prototypes firsthand.

These hardware demos were made with GMOD® prototypes (now upgraded to what below we refer as LATIDO® “DIY version” capsules): they do not have individual pixel addressing but feature a total of 2500 x 2500 pixels (mora than 6 million per capsule).

Similar to standard displays, LATIDO® devices have “pixels”. However, each of these LATIDO® pixels is a graphene micro-membrane that moves to tune ambient light and generate sound. Quite a feat, right?

And the next steps? We are about to receive a key electronic component (called “backplane” or simply chips with transistors). With this, we will soon demonstrate digitally generated images and custom videos at HD resolution (~1000 x 1000 pixels, 1600 pixel per inch) and ~60 Hz.

Please be aware that we are hardware folks, so the software aspects for LATIDO® are a bit basic at this point. That sounds like a drawback but like Alan Kay said, “people who are really serious about software should make their own hardware”.

We wish and hope that we can build a developer community where professionals will be eager to help in making custom software without our limited bias and as open as it can get. Alternatively, we will explore collaborations with software companies although we still prefer the bottom-up approach.

• LATIDO® capsules. The beating heart of our technology. Modular and graphene-powered, these units modulate sound and light seamlessly. Available in two versions:
  • DIY Capsules – For tinkerers & professionals, offering color blinking & basic sound.
  • Commercial Capsules – Fully functional for video & audio integration with our gadgets.

• Evaluation kits for video projection. For pioneers, developers, and visionaries who want to push LATIDO®’s capabilities to its limits and create next-gen applications. These kits are designed for DIY capsules (not included).

• Next-gen LATIDO® gadgets. Wearables and projection-based devices that break free from traditional screens and speakers. Designed for commercial capsules. There are 3 planned gadgets:
  • Projector: insert 1 LATIDO® capsule to bring floating visuals to any surface. No screens, just pure light.
  • Headphones: plug in 2 LATIDO® capsules and experience audio redefined. No speakers, just immersive sound.
  • Scouter: the HUD of the future. We haven’t thought of its full potential yet: map guidance, interactive overlays, or maybe a tribute to a certain anime device?

What’s Our Plan & Schedule?

We are rolling out LATIDO® in phases, with the following estimated schedule:

Q3 2025

Release of LATIDO® capsules (DIY version) for lead users and professional evaluators to do pre-commercial testing and get input for the gadgets to come next months. These capsules are functional for basic light and sound modulation; that is, you will be able to use them in DIY projects with instructions we will share soon. Please note this DIY version of capsules will not be compatible with the upcoming gadgets!

Q4 2025

Evaluation kits for video projection become available. They are expensive, so probably you really want to be an audiovisual professional eager to get ahold of one to play with it.

Q4 2026

First commercial gadget along with the release of commercial capsules: LATIDO® Projector integrating a LATIDO® gadget-compatible capsule.

Q1 2027

Portable LATIDO®-powered audio wearable: Headphone dock works with two! These capsules are exchangeable and compatible across other gadgets.

Q4 2027

HUD-based LATIDO® Scouter first batch out. Theis capsules are exchangeable and compatible across other gadgets.

We are testing LATIDO® through this Indiegogo campaign, ensuring a safe, controlled environment where backers can shape the future of this technology. Please be patient for documentation and specs disclosure, we do our best with our current resources!

Our Funding Goal & How We’ll Use It

We are pledging a minimum of 943,725 EUR, because truly we can’t start with less: that's why this is called "touch tech". We have calculated all risks to the last cent and are making huge sacrifices to bring this technology to the market.

Unlike traditional crowdfunding, we have chosen Fixed Funding, meaning if we don’t hit our goal, all contributors will be refunded. This funding will go towards:

• Scaling up graphene chip production to ensure efficient manufacturing of our LATIDO® capsules.
• Hardware integration and engineering to develop seamless modular docks for different use cases.
• Prototyping and ecosystem development to provide the first-generation evaluation kits for early adopters and engineers.
• Regulatory compliance and certifications to meet international standards and make LATIDO® a global product.

We have a very complex –and robust– financial plan and here we offer a rough breakdown:

• 15% – Personnel costs
• 10% – Raw materials and goods
• 40% – Technical services and outsourcing
• 35% – Taxes and success services

We hope the pricing is acceptable for some of you, and everyone else can wait a bit for us to ramp up volumes and reduce production costs for more accessible prices. At the end, this is not only about backers giving money and receiving gadgets: you are not just funding a product, you are fueling a movement!

Risks & Challenges

Innovation is never easy, but we are prepared for the challenges ahead:

1. Scaling up production. We have functional prototypes, but (mass) production requires refining our processes. We are working with leading equipment manufacturers and material suppliers to optimize fabrication and reduce costs at scale.
2. Market adoption. Disruptive technologies often face resistance from established industries. Our developer community strategy will ensure that early adopters can explore real-world applications for LATIDO®.
3. Regulatory compliance. As a new technology, LATIDO® requires certifications for international distribution. We have already mapped out regulatory aspects and are collaborating with industry experts to navigate this process efficiently.

We are committed to transparency and will keep our backers updated on progress, challenges, and key milestones.
