"Speak the speech I pray you! "
Or what if we don't..?
"Words, words, words"
What would happens if we take away Shakespeare’s words, like "words" Sound insane???
"Though this be madness, yet there is method in't."
Prism Movement Theater is going to dive right into those questions with our avaunt- bard production of LEAR
Join Prism Movement Theater as they adapt one of Shakespeare's greatest plays, all without a single word. LEAR is a beautiful and moving work of dance theater that focuses on the relationship between Lear and her daughters.
When Lear is betrayed by her corrupt daughters, Regan and Goneril, her sanity is sent into a tailspin, forcing her only faithful daughter, Cordelia, to take up the mantle and fight for her mother's dignity and the fate of the kingdom.
And of course we’re going to do all it without words. Just As You Like It, PMT fans.

O BRAVE NEW WORLD!
This fall, Prism Movement Theater has been given the incredible opportunity to perform in Theater Three's basement space, Theater Too. That means you have the opportunity to help fund this incredible work of art that will be performing in the heart of uptown under the umbrella of an award-winning theater like Theater Three. This collaboration is an amazing opportunity for us but we need your help to pull it off!
Written by Prism Movement Theater cofounder, Katy Tye, (the writer behind incredible shows like Persephone and MIDAS) This production of LEAR will heavily feature dance, clowning, live music, and sword fights, all to subvert and reinvent the classical Lear narrative into something for the modern age.
By doing wordless Shakespeare, we are diving right into the core of the emotional life in Shakespeare’s work. From the minute the audience walks downstairs into that basement theater, we want them to feel as if they are descending into Shakespeare’s world and eventually Lear’s madness.
The audience will walk into Lear’s retirement party, where they will meet Regan, Goneril, the Fool, Cordelia, and even Lear herself. After the party goes horribly wrong, Lear struggles to maintain her sanity, and pulls the audience down with her on her slide into madness.
