Welcome to my Indiegogo campaign!
My name is Vuk Lungulov-Klotz and I’m a transgender filmmaker, born in New York City, USA, from Chilean and Serbian immigrants. I’m currently working to bring to life my first feature film, Quiltro. But in order to do that, I want to shoot a short film this coming month to prove that I have the skills and talent to direct a feature film.
The short "Lenny For A Day" is about Lenny, a transwoman, who, after a two month stay in Vermont with her uncle, returns to New York City intent in delivering a message to her cousin, but things escalate quickly, unveiling family differences and reminding Lenny she’s gotta hit the ground running if she wants to stay afloat in New York.
Both my feature and this short center around transgender characters without having their transness be the focus of the story, and instead explore the complexities of everyday life that apply to all of us. Being trans, I see the faults, fears, and tribulations that affect non-trans people and can apply them to myself. I would like to revert that and give non-queer people the opportunity to apply my experiences to them. The moment we all embrace how absurd it is to be alive is the moment we’ll all see eye to eye. That is the space I wish to explore and occupy with my work.
What We Need & What You Get
Making movies is expensive, but I'm only asking for $2.500 in order to make this short possible. The film will be made with much love and probably a lot of favors, but we still need to feed the crew, rent equipment, and pay the talent. The money raised here would really make a difference in the outcome of the short! My team and I have what it takes to make something great with very little. And though I can't offer much in return right now, every contributor will be listed in the credits and will have my eternal gratitude.
In the long run, making this short would greatly benefit in fostering trust and showcasing my skills in order to get funding for my feature film (which was part of the 2018 Sundance Screenwriters Lab and the 2018 Inside Out Financing Forum.)
My previous short“Still Liam,” was part of the Inside Out 2017 Toronto LGBT Film Festival, as well as the GAZE International LGBT Film Festival and was an award winner at the Trans Stellar Film Festival. Here is a link for you to check it out:
