Welcome to Madeline Island!
Boozhoo! Hello! My Name is Martin Curry and Im opening a restaurant! The LeSeur Street Cafe will be located in the beautiful Bell Street Tavern on Madeline Island. This full service restaurant and bar will offer an eclectic world menu in a beautiful 6500 sq foot dining facility beginning in May of 2024! I have worked in food service for over 25 years in a variety of positions including dishwasher, prep cook, line cook, waiter, catering and co-owner of a food truck. This beautiful location presents an opportunity of a lifetime to take an existing restaurant and craft something unique for local residents as well as the seasonal visitors to our lovely island community. With your support, we can make this happen.
Our Goal!
This campaigns goal is to raise $20,000 for initial start up costs. These funds will be spent on a security deposit and first months rent ($6000) as well as insurance, liquor license transfer and some projected food costs for the first couple of weeks. It is my hope that this will provide a buffer during the month of May so that we can hit our stride during the busy season (June-September). Once the busy season hits, we will be self sustaining. We will offer a light breakfast with freshly roasted coffee in the morning. Lunchtime will feature lighter fare including sandwiches with homemade chips, fresh smoothies as well as a variety of on tap beer, wine, and specialty cocktails. During the weekends, we will offer Friday and Saturday night dinner service as well as a little project we are calling "The Midnight Kitchen" which will feature late nights eats in the beer garden to serve the hungry reveler. And finally to round out the weekend, a Sunday Morning Jazz Brunch which will feature the best in brunch fare coupled with local musicians providing ambience extraordinaire.
Your Impact
Your contribution will allow the LeSeur Street Cafe Crew to hit the ground running! Ventures like this require start up capital and your financial commitment supports a community-minded business; it helps to create competitive paying jobs in the service sector and it allows us to provide unique culinary options to the island community and its guests.
Risks & Challenges
The biggest challenge in food service these days is labor. The LeSeur Street Cafe has employees committed to the upcoming season (both mainland and island labor) and as we move forward with recruitment, we will offer competitive pay rates. We will meet challenges by designing an efficient menu; commit to thorough employee training and making sure that the service we provide makes your dining experience enjoyable.
