The short film deals with the suffering in a young family caused by the irresponsible behavior of the father. He smokes in front of his family which places not only his wife in danger but also his newborn baby. The wife gives her husband an ultimatum: he must quit smoking before she loses all hope of him becoming a role model for their newborn son.
I am Alejandro Campos a Masters candidate at the New York Film Academy, institution renown for film production. Presently, I am developing my thesis project, a short film focused on the relationship between family dysfunction and cigarette smoking.
The purpose of this project is to generate consciousness in smokers on the damaging effects of cigarettes not only on the smoker but also on those around him/her. This will be achieved through the creation of a short film that represents the family problems that lead to cigarette smoking in the family.
Students and a university film crew are collaborating with me in the development of this project. Nevertheless, despite their assistance, I still require additional economic support. I am seeking people, institutions and organizations such as yours for financial backing to cover such costs as location rental, Film Festivals Fees, additional personnel (production designer, sound crew) and food. All of this is needed in order for the production to have a professional set and a high quality production that can be presented at international film festivals
The effects of second-hand smoke are an additional problem. This type of passive smoking involves a combination of the smoke from a burning cigarette and the smoke exhaled by a smoker. It has been demonstrated that this smoke produces the same effects on a person’s lungs as those that come from directly inhaling the smoke a cigarette, including cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, bronchitis and asthma.
My hope is that specialized institutions will use my short film as a tool to promote consciousness on the need to control cigarette smoking.

El cortometraje trata sobre el sufrimiento de una joven familia la cual sufre por el comportamiento irresponsable del padre. El incocientemente sigue su mal habito de fumar frente a su familia, la cual perjudica a su esposa pero en especial a su recién nacido bebe. Su esposa le pondrá un ultimátum a su mal habito y tendrá que cambiar antes q sea muy tarde y su esposa pierda la esperanza en tener un esposo ejemplar para su hijo.
Mi nombre es Alejandro Campos y soy un estudiante de maestría de New York Film Academy la cual es una Universidad especializada en el campo de la producción de cine en la sede de Los Angeles, California; en este momento me encuentro desarrollando mi proyecto de tesis (Master of Fine Arts) el cual consiste de un cortometraje sobre la problemática familiar que ocasiona el tabaquismo.
El propósito de este proyecto es generar (desarrollar) conciencia en los fumadores sobre el efecto dañino del cigarrillo tanto al fumador como a quienes le rodean, a través de la creación de un cortometraje que representa la problematica familiar que genera el tabaquismo en la familia.
Se cuenta con el apoyo de los estudiantes y equipo de filmación de la Universidad para la realización del proyecto. Sin embargo, se necesita del apoyo económico de entidades como la que ustedes representan para poder cubrir algunos costos como alquiler de locación, contratación de personal adicional (productor de diseño, sonidista, director de fotografía y actores), y alimentación. Todo esto se requiere para poder contar con un set profesional y producir un cortometraje de alta calidad que pueda ser mostrado en los diferentes festivales de cine.
Una problemática adicional es el humo de segunda mano también conocido como fumar pasivamente el cual consiste de una mezcla de los dos tipos de humo que provienen de la combustión del tabaco y el humo principal. Se ha demostrado que este humo de segunda mano produce los mismos efectos que la inhalación directa del humo de tabaco en los fumadores, incluyendo enfermedades cardiovasculares, cáncer de pulmón, bronquitis y ataques de asma.
Un objetivo adicional que pretende este proyecto es que el cortometraje pueda ser utilizado por instituciones especializadas que requieran del fomento de conciencia como herramienta fundamental para el control del tabaquismo.
