SLÄP! Sticker Exhibition
The story of our project
We are the Stencibility Street Art Festival from Tartu, Estonia. In collaboration with hundreds of sticker artists around the world, our ambition is to create the biggest sticker exhibition in Europe. How? By utilizing the biggest canvas available: a city bus! However, there's an issue – we can't do it without you. The exhibit is halfway complete, but we need your help to finish it. Once the exhibit is complete, it will be on display while on its daily route, picking up commuters in Tartu throughout 2024.
The smaller version of the SLÄP! sticker exhibition on wheels has been rolling around as part of Stencibility since 2018 . Now a little brother to the big city bus project.
Why stickers?
Because we simply loooove them. Stickers are one of the tiniest street art forms and it rarely gets the attention it deserves by festivals. Every sticker can be a unique artwork with its own message, visual and a printing technique. With this exhibition we want to show the size of the worldwide sticker art movement and emphasize the worth of a sticker as an artform.

Be part of it
If you wish to help us by donating, we have put a lot of effort into meaningful perks. Obviously this is the place where to get high quality artisan stickers that will glow up any object you stick it on. You can also score street art tours or some really cool silkscreen and risograph art prints made in collaboration with Stencibility artists. Most exciting perks for us are the sticker patterned shirts (omg!!). Their design is a 1:1 copy of the sticker van (last edition of Släp! exhibition). Look for more detailed description of the perks below.

This is a project done in collaboration with over 1000 artists. If you are an artist and do stickers, please send us a collection of your works to be part of this exhibition. As sticker trading is such an important (and fun) part of sticker culture, then we also send sticker packs back. Everyone who sends us at least 20 stickers, will also receive a trade pack back with stickers from other artists and our partners. Our mailing address for sending stickers and the exact terms can be found at www.stencibility.ee/slapstickerbus .

History behind SLÄP!
In 2018 we created the SLÄP! - a moving exhibition on wheels showcasing sticker art inside and outside. The prototype truck was bought without a working engine, so towing the exhibition to its opening event and back cost us more than the machine itself.

The first prototype of the sticker exhibition on wheels
Next year we got a beautiful red Ford Transit van to stickerbomb and most importantly - it could drive from one place to another without a tow truck. And we used this feature a lot - SLÄP! sticker van made it to 40 different art and music festivals in Estonia and nearby countries. It even made it to Berlin, which was our dream for a long time.

The sticker exhibition outside the van was renewing organically as the visitors also added their stickers in the bunch. The gallery space inside the van had a new exhibition curated every year during the Stencibility festival. The gallery during the day was also a classy bedroom for the summer nights, so we could travel, live inside the van and tour around with the exhibition.

How will we use your support?
- Covering the exhibition to protect the stickers. Did you know that city buses are washed every day? We didn’t :) We need to protect the stickers by adding an additional transparent layer on the bus.
- Restoring the bus’ original appearance. Unfortunately after the year 2024 we still need to clean up the bus. How long would it take to remove 25 000 stickers and their glue one by one? We don’t want to find out :) So we are smarter than that and will cover the bus with one more transparent layer - this time before the stickers. So we could remove it by large patches and archive some of it.
- Postal costs. Every artist who is participating will also receive a trade pack with stickers from other artists and our partners. Trading stickers is an important part of sticker culture, so we want to keep doing that. We plan to send sticker packs to 1000 artists around the world.
Timeline
- By August 2023 we had gathered 11 000 stickers and covered half of the bus with the sticker exhibiton.
- We will do the second half of the bus in January 2024 and need 11 000 more stickers and 5000€ to protect the stickers with an extra layer, cover postal costs to send trade packs back to artists and remove the exhibiton in the end of 2024 in a way we can save the larger areas for framing.
