Short Summary
My name is John Kerner and I am the CEO of Uncuffed Productions, LP. I am a retired detective/lieutenant from a small town in Bergen County, New Jersey. I am currently a writer and filmmaker and my latest project is a dramatic short film titled "Letters From The Grave."
Letters from the grave is based on three real life stories of suicide I investigated as a detective. I have unfortunately seen many suicides during my twenty five year career and just because they died by their own hand doesn't mean they weren't also a victim that deserved my full attention as an detective. I have always tried to imagine how much emotional pain the victim's must have been in to go to such drastic measures to end their life. But in the end, they chose to end their life instead of reaching out for help, or maybe they felt like there was no help at all.
The goal for this project is to bring awareness to suicide and to show that suicide is not biased. It doesn't care what race, religion ,ethnicity, sex, gender, age or what your economic background is. Suicide is a topic that needs to be talked about and people need to know there is help available for anyone struggling.
What We Need & What You Get
My film needs to raise $2,500.00. The money will go towards cinematography, editing, music, marketing and film festival fees.
-For anyone that donates $50.00, they will receive a thank you shout out on social media.
-For anyone that donates $100.00, they will receive a special thank you in my film's credits.
-For anyone that donates $250.00, they will receive a credit as an Associate Producer in my film's credits and a signed movie poster.
-For anyone that donates $500.00, they will receive a credit as an Producer in my film's credits, a signed movie poster, and be my guest at a local film festival where my film becomes an official selection.
The Impact
The impact I hope my film makes is to bring the topic of suicide more acceptable to talk about. In my experience, people shy away from talking about suicide. People need to know that there is help available for anyone who needs it.
