Short Summary
Getting into college is getting harder and harder every year. More and more students are looking for help with their applications but it is only the highly priviledged that can pay thousands of dollars for SAT classes, essay help and an admissions counselor.
I spent countless hours in high school trying to figure out how to get into a top University. I had a 3.1 GPA and 1850 in my SAT scores, and I ended up at Duke. It all started when I asked myself, how do colleges review the applications?
Duke gets 30,000 applications every year that they review in 90 days or 65 business days (January 1st to April 1st). Think of that, 30,000/65 = 461 application every day! With 10 people in the admissions office that is 46 applications per person per day, or one application every 10 minutes!!
So, how are you getting in?
Selective colleges are not reading applications in 10 minutes, they aren't just picking students at random, and there is no way a computer can read your essay and send you an acceptance letter, so how does the process work?
That is what I want to teach you. If you know how the process works you can emphasize your stengths in an applealing way to the admissions officers and hugely increase your chances to get in.
What We Need & What You Get
You get all the information that a college counselor would give you. I'm a member of the American College Counseling Association, and my status as a student and friend of the admissions officer has helped me get more knowledge about the process than most other college counselors. The idea here is to lower the price of information from the thousands of dollars that an admissions counselor would charge you, to a couple hundred. With a gold membership you will know as much as any college counselor out there. With a bronze membership you will know enough to substancially increase your chances to get into a top school.
The different options
Bronze Membership (value: $300)
This gives you access to a series of videos explaining the admissions process. This is a detailed explanation of how universities actually process all those applications in such a short amount of time. Understanding the process and the guidelines they use will be incredibly helpful, this alone should increase your chances a lot. After watching this, you will start strategizing your time and effort in the months before applying to college.
Silver Membership (value: $500)
In this section I will review the applications step by step according to the guidelines that admission officers review the applications. I will explain to you exactly what they want to see on your essay, recommendation letters, SATs and others. I will even give you guidelines so you can estimate how likely is it that you will get into a school
Gold Membership (value: $900)
I will give you specific examples of essays and recommendation letters, I will point you to the best resources and answer all your questions. I will even teach you other small tips and tricks that can help you get off the wait list. This is the opening of the kimono, I will teach you everything I know. These are the last bits and pieces that get you to stick out, I reserve them to the gold membership because if everyone 'sticks out' then no one sticks out.
Live Group Q&A via Skype (value: PRICELESS)
This is exclusive to Indiegogo. To fully develop the content and FAQ page I want to talk to you. I will answer any of your questions via Skype or Google Hangout. I will probably hold 3-5 hour long sessions
Private Skype session (value: PRICELESS)
This is exclusive to Indiegogo. I tend not to help people one-on-one but... because you are supporting this project early and showing me that you believe in me, I will be happy to talk to you via Skype and answer any question you might have.
