Short Summary
My name is James Goggin Jr. and I am graduate from Western Connecticut State University and a lifelong CT resident. I have a passion for Theatre, Film, and Entertainment, which has drawn me to this current project. We are raising funds to support our needs to best produce “The Leviathan,” an independent feature film.
“The Leviathan” is a hard-hitting family drama/psychological thriller that deals with heavy subjects like mental illness, domestic abuse, addiction, anger, acquaintance rape, and suicide. The film is very important because it has a message that cannot be simply said, but must be felt and experienced by viewing this visceral cinematic journey.
On the surface the Orison family appears to be your average American middle class family. Under the surface they are all struggling to keep their lives together under the weight of the dying American dream. As lives crumble and secrets are revealed victims become heroes, heroes become villains, and villains become human.
What We Need & What You Get
All of us on the production team are putting in many hours and sleepless nights to make this project a reality. In order to make this project an achievement rather than just another film, we need your support! that will allow us to cover the expenses needed to make a high quality film.
Expenses for "The Leviathan" include, but are not limited to, costumes, props, lighting rental and other equipment rental, food for the cast and crew, travel stipends to our cast and crew that are coming from a far to be in the movie as well as post production expenditures. We will also be able to submit the finished product many festivals so that the film can achieve the audience it deserves and inevitably we will be seeking domestic and international distribution.
We have a lot of great perks located on the side of our indiegogo page, so please take a look and see what you like best! You even get a chance to be in the movie as well as getting an OFFICIAL PRODUCER CREDIT!
If we do not reach our goal, the funds will still go towards the production of the film. If you have any further questions or are interested in seeing how our budget is appropriated, please feel free to email us.
The Impact
"The Leviathan" project is valuable because it goes where films today don’t. Many modern films deal with 'black and white,' similar themes and views. “The Leviathan” delves deep into the grey that is the human soul and how our black and white views are slowly crushing what makes a person truly unique. We value what can be measured; grades, jobs, money, scoreboards etc. However, we are forgetting to value what can’t be measured; kindness, respect, imagination, and love. “The Leviathan” puts a mirror to the American Dream and the successful, modern American family and shows it it’s ugly reflection.
Producers Jeff Bonistalli and Kristi Nation are no strangers to making a successful film. Their last project, “Asabiyyah: A New Social Cohesion” was featured and nominated as "Best Thriller" in the 2014 Bare Bones Film Festival in Oklahoma on April 3rd and is being featured again in the NYC film festival, “NewFilmmakers” on September 17th of this year. The film has an impressive 7.4/10 rating on IMDB.com. They are currently seeking distribution for the film and are waiting to hear back from more festivals.
