Welcome to TravelPRIDE.org, your destination for LGBTQ+ travel resources, from places to go, things to see, what to read, where to eat, and how to stay safe when you get there. We’re a website dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community promoting adventure, exploration, and, most importantly, PRIDE in who we are.
TravelPRIDE.org is working to explore issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community all over the world. We encourage our readers to interact with each other in a creative and supportive environment.
The team at TravelPRIDE is made up solely of members of the LGBTQ+ community, plus allies of the community. It’s a team of individuals expressing themselves through writing and video, and it’s inspiring to watch what’s being produced.
What We Need & What You Get
We are seeking second-round funding for the expansion of our website. Through a private investor we were able to launch the site, hire writers and columnists, and put together a team behind the scenes to get the site up and running. With the launch taking place on June 21st, 2017, the site is now ready for second-round funding.
We are seeking $10,000 (the bare minimum) to upgrade to a private server, develop marketing materials for advertising sales, provide online training and certifications from various universities to our writers and editors, build our marketing team, and advertise on social media to spread our message.
In exchange for your help, we have a variety of exciting offerings, from bumper stickers to vacations!
The Impact
We’re already having a major impact in the LGBTQ+ community even before we’ve launched. The fact that we’ve hired an all-LGBTQ+ and allies writing and editing staff has had an impact on those hired. We’re nearing 10 writers, 2 editors, 2 marketing specialists, 1 video producer, and 3 writing/editing interns, in addition to our administrative staff of our Editor in Chief and a hired accounting firm. We’re employing the LGBTQ+ community and giving them a voice to spread PRIDE around the world.
We’re also focused on promoting travel safety within the LGBTQ+ community. There are parts of the world (roughly 75 countries) where it is still unsafe for members of our community to travel and be open about who we are. We’re hoping to promote safe travel to those places while not compromising our individuality and pride.
Risks & Challenges
We’re open about the risks involved in not getting our second-round funding. Without this funding, we will not be able to keep all of our staff writers and editors on board after their initial contracts expire. Additionally, we’ll be limited on server space causing site delays, issues updating, and other technical troubles.
We are fortunate, however, in that we have received a private donor who is going to handle the production and fulfillment of all of our perks and rewards! That’s half the battle!
