Who we are

We are about to become the first graduates from the University of York's brand new Film and TV Production course.

For the last two years we have had access to industry standard facilities at the £30m department supported by Greg Dyke, Chancellor of the University.

We are now embarking on our biggest challenge yet, our final year graduation film.

A group of 7 of us recently pitched and were green-lit for production by screenwriter Simon van der Borgh (Kidulthood), Ed Braman (Commissioning Editor at Channel 4), and David Hickman (recently won the Grierson award for Channel 4's 'Race and Intelligence'), who is now acting as our Executive Producer.

The university is providing us with some initial financial investment, industry standard production equipment (RED Epic and Sony F3 cameras), as well as state-of-the-art post production facilities with Flame Premium picture finishing and a D-Command mixing desk.

The 30 minute film will be shot in February 2013 over the duration of 9 days in Scarborough.

Film synopsis

This is a story about Adrian Dell a man of structure, routine and principles. Fifty principles, to be precise, all of which he believes can lead anyone to personal and professional fulfilment. These are what he practices and what he preaches, working as a ‘life coach’ in an idyllic British coastal town. Adrian truly believes that his purpose is to help others reach their own fulfilment through the practising of his ‘principles’ and loves working with his clients to help them achieve this.

A man with a comfortable home, a successful wife, two beautiful children and the admiration of his clients, he appears to have it all. But we begin to realise that perhaps the man that we see on the outside doesn’t quite match the true character underneath.

It’s surprising to see that Adrian’s ever positive outlook doesn’t always come naturally. It is something he has to ‘tune into’ every day, using his carefully designed routines and exercises. In fact, Adrian is a man flawed like any other; he is only human, he just covers it better.

A letter arrives which suddenly uproots and shatters his world. His idyll is thrown completely out of balance as truths about a tangled, secret past emerge making even those who trust him most, his friends, family and clients, question who he really is.

Adrian must go backwards to go forwards; relinquish his reliance on rules and routine and face up to his personal reality. Revisiting a part of his life where he was most vulnerable undermines everything that he preaches, but he cannot deny the truth any more. He must reconnect and heal his past to ultimately get his life back on track.

What We Need & What You Get

We are looking for a minimum of $5000

This money will help to pay for professional actors, travel costs, locations, catering, and some additional production equipment.

We are extremely grateful for all support with this campaign. To say 'thank you' to all our contributors, we have tried to think of some perks to show our appreciation.

The exclusive Twitter feed will only be accessable to contributors. Through regular tweets, photos, videos, and even hopefully live streams - the idea is that you will feel as though you are on set with us, but from the comfort of your home!
