Forever in His Arms
by Lilly Michaels
I was brought into this world in a flurry,
"life flighted" to the nearest hospital,
for complication in the birthing process.
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
Walking down the street alone with my dolly in hand,
I thought I knew where I was going,
the police found me and took me home.
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
I would sing and dance, so young,
in the front row of church
Praising the Lord with all my heart and soul.
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
We left my father, because it was not safe
I cried and cried in that old station wagon heading West.
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
Living homeless......the nights were cold,
huddled together, creating body warmth.
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
They thought I was safe, I wandered around confused
In my heart I heard a voice,
it moved me to do something.
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
I couldn't survive on my own, I was too young,
I called the police, reaching out for help,
they took me to safety
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
Later my mother would tell me with tears in her eyes,
she didn't know, she thought I was safe, and I was
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
Angels were sent to protect me, love me, and keep me safe,
I was placed in the arms of a loving new family.
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
My life was so changed I felt scared and unsure
I hid in the closet and didn't want to ever come out.
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
My heart grew wise I was filled with the Holy Spirit,
I knew that I wanted to do something important,
I wanted to change.
I was not alone, for I was in His arms
The one who sang to me, the one who held me in her arms
The one who told me she loved me and always would.
I will always love her, and that will never change
My mother was strong enough to let me go,
to give me a chance to grow up with opportunities
I still see her and she holds me close to her.
I am not alone, for I am in His arms
Here I am today loved by so many,
with two wonderful families
to hold me and tell me they love me
I am not alone, for I am in His arms
