The line-u cable is the world's first dual USB Type-C connector designed for maximum speed data transfer. The use of high speed processors in modern laptops and other electronic devices leads to higher rates of heat generation that need to be dissipated efficiently. Our patented technology actively detects, monitors and reduces laptops temperature during intensive tasks for increased CPU performance. Rather than simply blowing air at the laptop like traditional external cooling pads, linedock's patented technology generates real cold: down to 10°C on the top surface. The cooling mechanism actively sucks heat from the bottom of the laptop, allowing it to perform better, when it matters. *This feature is only available on the linedock 15".*

Alexandra Kengen is an independent Belgian designer crafting day-to-day top-notch accessories. She founded AK Studio after working as stylist for fashion designer Alexander McQueen and Jean-Paul Knott.

Based on the feedback we've received from our dear backers community, we decided to implement 4K resolution for an optimal display experience. Together with the 100W upgrade, we updated the shipping schedule accordingly: May-June 2018.

linedock is already shipping to backers at the moment. However, we admit that we have been experiencing significant delays on the initial shipping schedule due to tougher certification processes for our custom battery cells and connector adjustments for easier assembly and dismantling.

Since May 2018, we've been shipping the linedock 13" to our backers. We are now transitioning over to the production of the linedock 12" and 15". More updates will be published in the updates section once exact shipping schedule has been confirmed. Thank you for your understanding.

What is the Warranty? 
linedock offers standard one year international warranty. We guarantee you receive your Line Dock free of manufacturing defects. We will try to cover part of shipping where appropriate, but there will likely be a shipping cost from your end as well.

Does linedock ship to my country? How much will shipping cost?
We are currently shipping to the following countries at the following shipping cost: USA (Free), Canada ($25), UK ($33), EU ($33), Australia ($33), Singapore ($25), Japan ($25), Taiwan ($25), Hong Kong ($25), Malaysia ($25), South Korea ($25), Thailand ($25), Rest of World ($53).

How will my order be shipped?
We will be shipping with FedEx International courier and equivalent solutions depending on the countries. Each shipment will receive a tracking number which will be emailed to you once the delivery has been shipped from our warehouses.

Are there any taxes associated to my order?
Orders shipped outside of the USA may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees according to the country of destination. Such import taxes, customs duties and fees can vary from one country to another. Additional charges for customs clearance must be fulfilled by the recipient upon reception. linedock team has no control nor responsibility over these charges.

What is your refund policy?
linedock team complies with Indiegogo refund policy. For refunds that are not eligible and according to on Indiegogo policy guidelines, they are processed based on the team's internal guidelines and off platform. Please bear in mind that all refunds will be locked at some point in order to go into production and shipment. We will not be able to refund any order once they've shipped.

When is linedock expected to ship?
linedock is expected to start shipping in May-June 2018. You will receive a tracking number to tell you exactly when you should expect your linedock to be delivered at your place 7 days prior to delivery.
 

Why should I wait longer than usual?
Indiegogo is not a pre-ordering platform. Instead, you're helping building a device and bringing it to life, which may take more time than products already available on the market :-)

Which linedock should I get?
linedock comes in 3 models. Each model offers the same battery capacity (except for the 15" that can be upgraded to a 25,000mAh battery) and ports. Internal storage options are broken down as follows:

- Basic (no internal storage)
- Standard (256 GB)
- Executive (1TB).

The model you choose will vary depending on your storage needs. If you are a professional and/or used to store large amounts of data, you might opt for the Standard or Executive version. 

Does linedock exist in different sizes?
Yes, here are the sizes we currently offer:
13inch: 8.36 inches (21.24 cm) x 11.97 inches (30.41 cm) x 0.35 inches (0.9 cm)

Can I use linedock on a regular USB-C laptop?
Yes. linedock has USB-C ports located on each side. We offer two sizes benchmarked on MacBooks 13" and 15". 

Can I use linedock on a regular laptop?
For non USB-C laptops, linedock offers USB 3.0 Qualcomm QuickCharge 3 giving access to all features except laptop charging as a regular laptop cannot be charged over USB-C.

What do I get when connecting a regular laptop through USB 3.0?
When connected via USB 3.0 Qualcomm QC 3, you get access to the SSD, the cooling system and all the ports except for the Mini DisplayPort.

Does linedock exist in different colors?
Yes. We currently offer 3 colors: Black 99% (Matte Black), Space Gray, and Silver. 

Why would I buy linedock over any other USB-C dongle?
linedock is the first device integrating any of your electronic accessory to fully enjoy your USB-C laptops and mobile devices. Instead of purchasing solutions limited to few functionalities and often chunky and expensive, linedock integrates all of what you need and is designed to be compact and to fit inside your everyday bag.

Am I required to use the provided USB Type-C cable or can I use a third-party cable?
For safety purposes, we recommend that you use the USB Type-C cable that was provided with your linedock. Third-party cables should work, but you may expect variances in power output which can lead to power-related issues and degrade both your laptop and Line Dock device. If you would like to purchase another cable, we invite you to visit http://www.usb.org/kcompliance/viewto see if your USB cable received a USB-IF certification.

How does Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 work?
With Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 via USB 3.0, your device battery can charge from 0% to 50% in 30 minutes or less (may vary depending on charging equipment and power source). After surpassing 50% charge, the charging speed slows down slightly to prevent over-stressing the battery.

Can I charge my device even if my device is not Quick Charge 3.0 enabled?
Yes. It will charge at regular USB 3.0 speed.

Will the cooling system damage my laptop battery? Or linedock battery?
We have designed our own patented cooling system enabling linedock not to overheat beyond normal operating parameters. linedock also comes with a safety auto shut-off feature to protect both your devices and linedock from overheating. linedock cooling technology will not damage the computer as it will only get down to minimum 10°C/50°F. linedock, as well as the any laptop, smartphone and tablet use Lithium-Ion Polymer batteries. The minimum temperature of use is 0°C/32°F. Hence our cooling will not do any damage. 

How can I know if my Line Dock is charged?
The LED indicators on the side will indicate you how full the battery is. When charging linedock, charging will automatically stop once the battery is full.

How do I switch on/off the cooling pad?
linedock is endowed with a single button to turn Cooling pad Off, On or on Auto mode. On and Auto mode will only work when the Line Dock is connected to a power outlet.

What is the battery life of the linedock?
linedock comes with a battery management system that actively manages the health and life cycle of the Lithium-ion polymer (lipo) 6065100 cells. Under ideal circumstances, if used every day the battery will last about two years. We are currently developing a power user loyalty program that allow backers to send us their units once their battery life cycle is depleted in exchange for new linedock versions at discounted prices. Can I take the plane with linedock?
Yes. FAA limits battery capacity to 27,000mAh. As Line Dock capacity is 20,000mAh/ 74 Wh Max (Output 60W), you can keep it in your carry-on luggage. The battery upgrade available for the 15" version get the capacity of Line Dock up to 25,000mAh/ 92,500 Wh, which is still under the FAA limitations. linedock is safe for flying.

Can I connect more than one computer at once?
No. You can only connect one computer at a time. If a second USB-C laptop is connected to linedock, it will benefit from the battery (e.g. charging) but will not have access to the Hub, the SSD or any other port. 

Can I connect one external screen via Mini DisplayPort and another one via HDMI at the same time?
No. You can only extend one screen at a time, either through Mini DisplayPort, HDMI or USB-C.

Can I connect an external screen via USB-C? 
Yes, and it’ll be powered via that USB-C port.

How many devices can I charge at once?
You can charge at least 4 devices at once. You might connect more devices they will then most likely charge slower. This will not damage the battery but take longer to charge and drain linedock battery faster.

How can I charge linedock battery?
You can charge it either via USB-C using any USB-C certified charger. Note that laptop chargers are the best for that matter as they deliver more power. You can also charge linedock with any USB charger via the USB 3.0 Qualcomm QC 3 port.

Does linedock supports Thunderbolt 3?
linedock is fully compatible with Thunderbolt 3 but currently supports USB3.1 Gen 1.

Do magnets have an effect on linedock components or on my laptop?
No. linedock is equipped with 4 neodymium magnets that have been perfectly calibrated and shielded to avoid any electronic damage or trouble on both linedock and the laptop.

Do magnets affect the internal storage?
No, SSDs (Solid State Drives) are not sensitive to magnets.

Is linedock compatible with Windows/Linux/Chrome OS?
Yes, linedock is compatible with any USB-C laptop, regardless of the operating system. 

Is my laptop compatible with linedock?
Any laptop offering at least one USB-C port and that can be charged through this port is fully compatible with linedock. If your laptop cannot be charged through USB-C or does not offer such a port, you can connect it through USB 3.0 and still benefit from the internal storage, ports and active cooling. 

Can I connect a linedock to another linedock and then to my laptop?
Yes, you can connect up to two linedock together with no data speed loss. You then get access to twice the battery and twice the storage of one regular linedock.

How does linedock stick to my computer?
linedock is designed to be placed under a USB-C laptop. 4 neodymium magnets embedded inside linedock helps easily positioning the laptop on top of it and avoiding it to slide down. Those magnets are oriented towards magnetic points of USB-C MacBooks. Each linedock box will also include additional magnetic stickers, should you want to keep your linedock and laptop attached firmly e.g. when using a laptop stand. This also in order to adapt and make it stick to regular laptops.
