Hello! We’re a group of film students at Montana State University. It’s our junior year and our first chance to take charge of a project ourselves and make it come to life. We have been working on other peoples’ film sets learning as much as possible and now we can put our knowledge together and show what we are capable of.
In order to make this film the best that we can, we will need some funds to support it. As students, crowdfunding is our best chance at collecting what we need to make this project the reality we have envisioned. This project means a lot to all of us and is a big jumping off point. We plan on sending it to festivals and using it to make connections with people who will help us grow as filmmakers. To do this, it needs to be a good quality film.
With just a few dollars, you will be helping turn a story on a page into a visual journey that evokes emotion and thought. This film overall has a comedic premise, but it delves into the idea that we have all experienced loneliness. We believe it’s a story worth telling, and we hope to gain your support so that we can do it justice.
The Film:
A stranded Alien girl is alone on her solitary planet. One day, a spaceship crashes on the planet. As the Alien girl investigates the wreck, she discovers a dead astronaut. The Alien girl is desperate for a friend, and so she drags the dead astronaut along on all of her adventures. Eventually, the Alien girl works to repair the damaged spaceship so that she can escape the planet with the dead astronaut.

Where You Come In:
Each short film has its own set challenges. As students, we only have pocket change to spend on films. In reality, even making a student film can cost hundreds of dollars. We’ve carefully budgeted out every penny of this film, and included the breakdown of costs below:
We’re asking for your help to make our film a reality!
Total Budget: $1,500
Production Design - $500
This is by far our most important and expensive category. We need to purchase a variety of materials including: modge podge, pvc pipe, paint, wood, joints, hardware and insulation. All of these materials will allow us to create a fantastic spaceship for our astronaut as well as a hut for our Alien girl to live in.
Food - $300
A cast and crew of 25 eats a lot. We are planning to use Costco and crockpots in order to cut down on the costs, but we still need to provide 6 meals and snacks over the course of shooting. If the cast and crew aren’t fed well, they won’t be able to perform at their peak.
Transportation - $100
Since most of the crew does not have their own cars, we must shuttle everyone to the locations. If we raise enough money, we can provide Ubers which will free up the time to be used for shooting.
Costume & Makeup - $200
Since the film only has two characters, our costume cost is more minimal. Unfortunately, finding an authentic astronaut suit can be quite the endeavor. So, we’ll be making our own. We also need to purchase extensive amounts of makeup in order to give our Alien the look she needs.
Location - $300
In order to film on private land, we must pay fees to use the space.
Film Festivals - $100
We're so excited to enter this film in festivals, but unfortunately it's not free.
In return for your generous contributions, you will have our eternal thanks! But, we’ve also included some fun perks as a physical version of our appreciation. Based on your donation, you will receive a shout out on social media, a handwritten thank you, a Little Planet poster, behind the scenes footage, or even an Executive Producer Credit.
The Impact
We feel that this film will be impactful because it explores that challenges of loneliness. In today’s society, we all deal with feeling alone, and it’s important for us to remember that there are always resources around to support us.
Risks & Challenges
The most challenging aspect about this film is designing and creating the spaceship. Not only are the materials expensive, but the creative process takes significant amounts of time and labor. We do believe we are up for the challenge with a little bit of help from you.
Other Ways You Can Help
Even if you can’t contribute monetarily, please spread the word about our film! We’d love it if you shared our Indiegogo page, our website, or tagged us on social media. We’re incredibly excited about Little Planet and every set of eyes helps!
