One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of Seymour Krelbourn, a struggling florist working on skid row. When he acquires a mysterious, alien plant he must choose between a simple, happy life with his true love, or fame and fortune at a very high price.

Little Shop of Horrors will be free of charge for participants and audiences alike. Act III aims to provide access to theatre for as many students as possible - but we need your help. Again, donations can be made for any amount.

This production would not be possible without your generosity.

ABOUT ACT III

Act III is dedicated to providing opportunities for creative expression and exposure for the UCLA student body through professional-level, quality student-run theatre.

This mission is especially important on the UCLA campus, due to the limited opportunities for theatrical involvement on campus. The UCLA Department of Theatre produces one musical each year, with participation restricted to theatre students only. Act III stands out amongst other campus theatre organizations in its professionalism and its policy encouraging students of any major to participate—at no cost.

Little Shop of Horrors will be Act III’s ninth production since our inception in 2008. Past productions have included the Wild Party, Sweet Charity, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, I Love You, Because and Xanadu.

In addition to our productions, Act III hosts a yearlong musical cabaret and offers special master classes. We also produce two fundraising events: Bruins Care, a musical revue supporting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and 24 Hour Musical, a fully-staged musical mounted in 24 Hours to benefit No Limits, an organization that provides theatre programs to deaf children.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

Unfortunately, reaching our $5,000 goal will not close the gap in our budget. The statewide deficit has caused a continuing decrease UCLA organization funding. This is especially problematic for mounting a theatre production, as university funding sources already do not cover many of our expenses. With this limited institutional funding and without charging admission or membership fees, we rely on the generosity of individuals like you.Your contributions will help offset costs that include theater rental, equipment, performance rights, sets and costumes.

You can make a big difference. Anything helps.

  • $85 covers the cost of royalties for one performance
  • $275 covers half of the rental cost for scripts and scores.
  • $460 covers the the theater rental fee for one day.
  • $805 covers the cost of performance rights & materials.
  • $1,550 covers all labor and equipment costs for one performance

There is no way to fully show our gratitude for any and all contributions.

So, please accept the heartfelt appreciation of everyone at Act III, the satisfaction of contributing to the arts and the perks of the Little Shop of Horrors-themed packages listed on this page.
