Short Summary
Little Star Rising is a feature-length documentary about a young woman whose first memories are those of walking in front of a tank with her mother and sister, banished from a village where she was born. When you see her today, you would never guess the story of her childhood.
She is that person in the room that will have the widest smile, that person in the group that will tell you all will be well, that lady in your city that will pick you up from your bottom and make you fight for your happiness. Whatever happens, she has seen worse.
And so she is determined to change the game of life for the better for anyone who is willing to make an effort.

She is Nudžejma Softić, the woman who put her running shoes on at the age of 28 and by the age of 30 became one of the first women to run a marathon in Europe while wearing the hijab and the first covered European to compete at the IronMan triathlon.
She is that person whose first thought will always be how to put a smile on your face and who can always remind you of the fact that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what cards were dealt to you, what matters is what you do with them.
You are the one who has the power.
Who Are We?
![]()
We are a group of filmmakers from two different countries and seven different cities who went to Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina to do something others didn’t want to do in THAT city in THAT country. Make a film about how life can be beautiful.
We are a group of filmmakers who cannot do much about the current refugee crisis in Europe, totalitarian regimes around the world or failing economies, but who do want to believe that there is a way out. A way for people to get along and live the kind of life they want without hurting each other. Together we are 271 years old and we want to change the world.
One marathon at a time, one kind word at a time, one penny at a time, one film at a time.
What We Need & What You Get
Where does your contribution go?
We have invested almost two years and our own funds into research and filming. The goal of this campaign would cover part of what we need to complete the film.
What we need to do now is complete editing, the original music score, color grading, sound design and sound mix, the distribution poster as well as other materials and deliverables.
Also, since a lot of Nudžejma’s story happens on-line, we need to complete special motion graphics in the film.
The more contributions we collect, the quicker and better will the completion of the film be!![]()
What you get in return?
In return for your contribution, apart from our undying gratitude, you become a part of the team of the film.
Every each contributor will be mentioned on social media and thanked in the closing credits of the film. Your name will join the names of so many others in the history of film that enabled moving pictures to reach audiences and make them laugh and cry and get inspired.
Depending on the amount you contribute, you will be awarded a set of perks. You can check them out when selecting an amount to contribute.
The Impact

We Are 271 Years Old – Make us older! Add your age to our numbers!
Make changing the world by ways of a feel-good documentary the wiser option. Any contribution you give, any perk you take, will be a gift of your age to the cumulative age of the project that says we ought to be good to each other and do our best to build our world to be the finest it can be.
With any contribution, send us your age, contribute to the number that says: the older, the wiser, the fuller of joy.
The end credits will say: “The people who made this film are "xyz" years old. They learned this life is worth living. They know this world is worth changing. “
Risks & Challenges
Honestly? Everything about making this film has been a challenge. The story is deemed spectacular by some and controversial by others. The team lives in several cities and countries. Their schedules are crazy.
Nudžejma is a lovely and surprising character, she truly lives her life, meaning that we could only expect the unexpected when following her story and planning what to film and when. And now we are in post-production and we need to finish by early spring.
Filmmaking is a risky business. We are used to challenges and surprises. How do we solve them? By keeping calm and working as a team!
