Overview

Living Still is an experimental project.This movie is being used to “test the waters” per say. This is an opportunity for you to back an emerging film crew and assist in the creation of an independent film.

Synopsis 

The movie follows the life of a college freshman named Kyle, and it explores the realm of lucid dreaming and predestination. Lucid dreaming is a phenomenon in which one becomes conscious in a dream and is able to control his or her surroundings and actions, thus controlling the dream itself. As our main character becomes conscious of his dream/life, he challenges the outcome.

The film has a balance of abstract visuals, creative story telling, and intertwining social and philosophical questions. 

 

Aesthetics 

The setting of the film is on a college campus, but the shots are only limited by the main character's mind as he experiences his "false" reality. We have imagined/written the film to be very aesthetically pleasing and surreal in regards to its visuals. We will be shooting on a Panasonic GH4 to get production quality 4k resolution. At the top of our equipment list is the Atomos Shogun which will allow us to record 4k externally at 4:2:2 10 bit vs 4:2:0 8 bit. Stabilization equipment will also be needed to achieve dreamy camera movements. We are going for a shot style where we retain the vividness of the colors while still blending with the rest of the frame. This will fully capture the idea of a surreal cinematic style.

 

 

 

 

Production will immediately follow the ending of the IndieGoGo campaign and will end approximately one month after starting. This time line should have us going into post production in the middle of December and wrapping the project up before March 2015.

Talent

 

Tommy Hart is a BFA Musical Theater student at Penn State University. Born and raised in Dallas, TX, Tommy left the south to pursue a career in acting two years ago, and he has not looked back. He has recently appeared in several student films through the Penn State School of Communication and is so honored to be part of the creative team’s incredible vision for this project.

My name is Luke Wortman, and I am an 18 year old freshman attending Penn State University. My current major is Marketing. Being a film and video hobbyist for most of my life, I have been privileged to work with my best friend Bennett Steber on many media projects. For years we have been perfecting our skills independently out of pure passion. We have decided it is about time to fully invest ourselves in what we have always dreamed of doing, creating cinema. This art form is what really drives me and I hope we can find a good group of supporters who share an equal love for these magical worlds.

My name is Bennett Steber, I am an 18 year old college freshman attending Penn State University for Computer Engineering.  I've spent many years working alongside Luke creating projects of every kind.  Not a moment was wasted through highschool, we were always busy working on a video of some sort, whether by hire or just for fun.  We have a habit of coming up with ideas for projects and then not following through due to a lack of actors or free time, but we now have all the resources we require at our disposal and are in full swing film production.
