Our dream:
Hello-before I begin here I would like to thank you for reading this and for being on this website. The fact that you are here shows that you are willing to help someone to fulfill their dream and people who are willing to take time out of their day and money from their wallets to do so are in short supply in this day and age so whether you choose to support myself or anyone else on this site I sincerely thank you.
A few years ago my wife and I answered an ad in our local paper for ice cream truck drivers. We thought it would be a fun way to earn some money and be able to spend time together while doing so. We were right. This job became much more than a job for us. The joy we were able to bring to people who were seeing the truck for the first time and to people who saw us and remembered seeing a neighborhood ice cream man 50 years ago was amazing and reflected by the joy in our hearts at being able to spend our days together enjoying the summer sun and earning a decent living.
While we found that we loved this job we also found, unfortunately, that we did not love the company we were working for nearly as much. There were a number of issues that forced us to leave the job we came to love and to begin our journey toward owning our own little piece of ice cream heaven. I'm not here to slander anyone so I am going to simply say that I do not agree with some of the business practices of my former employer and I am going to learn from what I feel are his mistakes and bring my community an ice cream truck that I can operate with pride.
Where your money (and ours) will go:
To fulfill our dream we need a total of about $10,000. Over the past few years we have been able to set aside around $5000. We are hoping to be able to raise enough to get out there this year but if not anything raised will go into the bank with what we have managed to save ourselves and perks for pledgers will be redeemable once we get rolling. Your generous contribution will go toward the following items:
-An ice cream truck (hopefully fully equipped with professional equipment)
-Any equipment we need to get the truck in shape
-Repairs/maintenance to ensure safety of truck and quality of product
-Repair fund so that an unexpected repair does not put us out of business any longer than necessary
-A facility (preferably with a garage) to repair and store equipment and products
-Insurance for equipment/facility
-Various fees for starting/incorporating business
-Starting stock (Ice cream, candy, pop, etc..)
-Application fees for solicitor's permits in towns of operation
-All other misc. equipment and costs
I have been planning this for a long time and have researched many hours to ensure our future success in this endeavor. I believe that with my experience and knowledge our ice cream truck will bring joy to the hearts of all we encounter for many years to come.
