Hello and welcome to our crowdfunding page for Loco Parentis! We are Orange Era Productions, a group of skilled and professionally trained third year students studying Film production at Solent University. Loco Parentis is our Final Major Project, which is why we are going all out for its production. With your support, we will be able to raise enough, bringing our vision to life.

Our short film follows Port, a seventeen-year-old living with her single father George. She prioritizes her studies over everything else. While in her room, she tries to record an acting audition tape for University admissions. However, she realises it may not be possible with the looming responsibilities left behind by her slowly deteriorating alcoholic father.

Loco Parentis focuses its attention on the ongoing effects that alcoholism leaves on a family, while including themes of dysfunctional parenting, strained relationships and alcohol abuse.

Loco Parentis focuses on important topics surrounding the aspect of substance abuse. We really wanted to highlight the struggles which family members face when living with a loved one struggling with an alcohol addiction. We thought this was an extremely important topic to cover, as this aspect is not commonly mentioned in the media. With your support, you will aid in highlighting this issue, helping others become more aware.

You will also be supporting us as filmmakers. This is our biggest project to date, and we are planning on taking Loco Parentis to many film festivals once post-production has been completed. With your contribution, you could potentially help us break into the wider film industry! The actors will benefit from your donations too, allowing them to gain more acting experience while displaying their talent.

In order to create an extraordinary film, we need your help to reach our target of £3000. This money will be going towards many different aspects of production, helping to keep the crew's morale high while allowing us to best meet our film's vision! The majority of funding will go towards casting, as we require the best possible actors to portray Port and George. The image below is a good visual representation of our breakdown for the budget.

As a way to say thank you, we have a number of perks which you can access. These perks range from a film poster to an exclusive screening, please be sure to check them out! Also, however much money we raise, even if we do not reach our goal, every single penny donated will still be going directly into the production of Loco Parentis.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been one of the biggest challenges for us during the planning stage. It has changed the way we approach filmmaking while working within a team. No matter what though, we plan to begin filming in late February, ending in the same month. To do this effectively, we have a solid safety procedure to ensure that the cast and crew follow the correct protocol, helping to keep everyone safe and protected.

The entire crew has also completed the Screen Skills ‘Coronavirus Basic Awareness on Production Training’ course, aiding our understanding on how to stay safe while filming during these unprecedented times.
